love the phasing synth stuff...
any suggestions on good plugins, presets or synth parameter attributes ?
shifting into making a lot of loungy music lately.. but my synth sounds for this style are sub-par.
something like ramadanman's humber would be ideal.
thanks!

Re: lounge / neon / lazer softsynths
learn to use your synths. A new synth isn't going to make you any better. Harsh but true.

yea, I know that.. was waiting for someone to say that. I also asked about synth parameters in my post. Listened to your chunes and heard no synth style I was talking about, so maybe someone else has advise. I think the style is also used in deep house music.
Last time I checked, the production section in this forum is here to discuss production techniques. Your comment defeats this purpose

Your taking his comment the wrong way most synths are capable of making the sound you want, it's just a matter of learning itdankdbs wrote:yea, I know that.. was waiting for someone to say that. Re: lounge / neon / lazer softsynths
I just thought that comment was a bit short. Anyways I'm just looking for advice, for instance.. to make bass wobble automate lfo cutoff frequency. peeps have no probs helping w that.. without simply saying 'learn to use a synth'
I already know how audio synthesis works, and am aware that subtractive synth vsti's basically all do the same thing ..
Lazerbass/futurestep music has a certain synth style that I was hoping to start a thread about that's all.
thanks

Re: lounge / neon / lazer softsynths
be clear, give an example, give a description of the material you already use, and of the things you've already tried, or which technique you think the sound may come from... tell us what u already did, and how it didnt work...
otherwise ull get clowned...
oh and this : ignore my comment, and dont put effort in ur posts, and people are gonna put as little effort in their answers, and three times as much effort as u wish they put but they'll use it to make u feel like ur life aint shit...
come out cleaver.. its all im saying...
im trying to help

Ldizzy: thought my post was pretty detailed.. I did refer to a song with the synth sound I was talking about. Come out clever? I was polite in my post and not the one sounding like a prick.
Ajfa: check out :
ramadanman, night slugs, bok bok, machinedrum (newer stuff), pearson sound, girl unit, shortstuff
new somewhat untitled dubstep-ish genre, songs from these artists you will hear in lots of newer sets from djs like kode9 etc. Anyone who listens to this stuff would know right away what I was saying by the thread title.. that's what I was aiming for... anyways, I've made loads of progress with predator and the gross beat plugin within flstudio, still learning though..
cheers

Re: lounge / neon / lazer softsynths
dont worry i kinda got what type of sounds u were prolly talking about... its just that ive learned that the best way to recieve help on this forum is to start by giving info on what u did already, detailed info on how u tried...it kinda gets everybody's creative juices flowing..
happy to hear uve been doin good with the sounds... when ur stuck at a level, just post an example thru soundcloud and then we can feedback...

Re: lounge / neon / lazer softsynths
to make sounds similar to humber you only need a softsynth which can produce saw waves and has a low pass filter. Its basically a tech house chord stab sound. set up 2 or 3 oscs in your softsynth with saw waves set octaves apart. then automate the cutoff on your low pass filter with quite high resonance and make sure the filter envelope level is raised a wee bit. add effects such as chorus delay and reverb. its quite a simple sound but ramadanman's automation of filters and effects is what keeps it interesting.
hope that helps slightly

Re: lounge / neon / lazer softsynths
No, no you weren't. If you provided a song (which you did), and then gave a time in the track (which you didn't), then people are more able to help, unless they actually know exactly what you're talking about. Your question was very generic. It's the same as asking "how can I make filth?". LDizzy was right on the money. And my point still stands. You need to learn how to use the synths you have - using a different synth isn't going to make you a better producer or a particular sound better. Though some synths are better for mechanical, or organic/warm.etc.dankdbs wrote:Ldizzy: thought my post was pretty detailed.. I did refer to a song with the synth sound I was talking about. Re: lounge / neon / lazer softsynths
Resample some chords with single squarewave or sawtooth oscillator.
Add portamento, chorus and ADSR to your taste and its pretty close to the synths kode9, deadboy, etc are using..
