I also, in no way, was looking for shit 'Aimed at nerds and non-club goers' (and for the record, if youve never been to a powernoise/bender night, dont assume its all virgin nerds with no lives. Thats pretty pretentious of you, seeing as you used the word.) Just because you dont like something legend4ry, doesnt mean it is made for people who are beneath you, and thats really the way what you said came off when you started attacking odd, experimentalist music as being 'for nerds'.

somethings wrong if you think that just because you would regard something as senseless it was the person who made its intention to 'try to hard to be different.' Some of us sincerely love some of the more ridiculous sounds of the sonic spectrum, and I promise its in no way because we're looking for some kind of cool factor. One could argue the same about people trying to hard to make 'deep dubstep' but we wont get into that because you and i know its not true, but please see that what you said came off as really ignorant. To be writing off entire classes of music and sonic manipulation as 'nerds trying to hard to be different' is fucked up, especially given the magnitude of people posting in this thread who could prove you wrong in a heartbeat.

You and I both know normal, more traditional forms of EDM can have experimental factors, your acting like the popular press twisting what I said though, I was in no way ever saying it couldnt be experimental, I was simply asking we leave the dubstep out of this thread. Sorry you got upset about that. You dont need to attack classes of music as being for nerds though. Go bitch about brostep, same essential concept, hate-on-what-we-dont-like.

Would you consider Matthew David as 'music for nerds, trying to hard to be different?' ... What about Viral Lode? ... Or Burial? I said quantized off in my original post, was he trying to hard to impress nerds? The only person I see being elitist or pretentious in this thread is you man, everyone else was happily swapping ideas, tunes, and feedback.

I didn't even say I don't like this kinda music, its the way you hit the subject - then you just went on a rant for more brownie points and not even responding to the subject matter.

Its just the fact you said "ACTUALLY", as if you're saying - if people don't do the things you stated they're below you - Am I the only person who got that? Cause its blatent thats how you think, its like how I listen to tracks and i'm like "why is there mid range?". Don't swing back what I said and try and out-do me by saying names - the whole thing I said is about your first post and the title. Its a forum so I am entitled to my opinion and I don't like how you put what you was looking for.

Also - I never contribute to brostep-bashing because it doesn't interest me.

On another note it is nerdy, whoever says it isn't is delusional - just like how the fact I am almost fanatical about sci-fi. You're really interested in sound design and such and like with weird and interesting sounds. Nothing wrong with nerdy stuff and anyone who thinks nerds are middleclass white kids with glasses who are virgins is living in 80s American teen-comedy..

:a:

Some of you act like I am unintelligent I swear and pull of big rants like I don't see straight through it, if you read what I say and not get panties twisted you'd actually realise I am stating opinions and i contribute so much to this community I am allowed to have a go at people ..
:cornlol: If you think its that bad that people express opinions then maybe we should lock every thread then PM the thread creator if you're allowed to contribute to a thread.

I see noone as below me, and my self as below everyone, any locals on this board know that, I put myself so low down I wont play shows, I wont release half my tunes, and for you to insinuate that I tihnk anyone is below me, is fucked up. I rank 99.9% of the people on this forum far above myself, and that .01%, I place as equals, not as below. I said "actually" because the majority of posts on here are how to sound like x producer, and I was saying it in the context of who is "actually" trying things they dont read on tutorials...

Like I said, dont misinterpret my quotes, this is a forum, not a tabloid.

Im deleting this part of this, the repeated edits are out of my control, I just thought Id show what people think of each other.

Not really crazy weird but a big ambient soundscape kinda thing.
Man, I missed this one and Im not sure how, but I gotta say Im surprised man... Ive always thought your synth choices sounded a bit drab, but this has really changed my opinion on that... You need to apply more of this sort of attentiveness to sound design to your normal tunes and youll have the full package man, awesome theory and awesome design, that shit was beautiful.

Im looking for your more eccentric and personal projects. Sonic tom-foolery, ambient pieces, improvisational randomness, circuit bending projects, odd time signatures, nonquantized rhythms, full hosuehold samples and textural experiences... things which are not typical... This is a thread for my audiophile peeps, the people who like me have a past dotted with noise music and true glitch...

You know, experimental nonsense.

Thanks you and have a nice day. :Q:

-A completely cuntishness free rewrite of my original post, for legend4ry, no hard feeling man!
In high school I was in a noise band, and that definitely was an important part of my transition from instrument based music to electronic music. Good to see your coming from a similar place Basic! This is a recent tune from me, definitely qualifies as experimental but also is obviously influenced by dubstep. Super de-quantized, field recordings where the drums should be, but most importantly it devastates me every time I listen to it.

Also, I just finished my senior thesis project at University and I think anyone interested in this thread would dig it. It's a dance performance set in a pitch dark room with infrared lights hanging from the ceiling. The infrared light (combined with an infrared camera) allows me to follow the dancers' movements in the dark and project abstract silhouettes of them directly onto their bodies. I then process these silhouettes even more in real time, merging them into one another, diffusing them across the room, etc. Also, we have a segment with no projections, where the speed of a solo dancer's movements controls both the playback speed and pitch of a saxophone recording, as well as generating midi notes to play samples and synths from logic. Its hard to explain, but this (very low quality) video of one of our rehearsals might give you an idea:

When I have a high quality video of the whole performance I'll come back to share that too.

Tonight I posted an EP from one of my closest homeboys, The Heroin Hero, to our netlabel Cosmology... now I know I sorta said I wouldnt promote my own ventures in this thread and I feel like because Im invested in the netlabel Im kinda violating that but hear me out... I've yet to hear an artist who works quite like him, he's bringing a bit of the turntable sound back too EDM, something I failingly try at... Very textural and admittedly a bit self indulgent at times, but everything he sends me launches me into a fit of inspiration/jealousy... I spend mad time studying theory's and perfecting my production, this cat slams beat juggles into the limiter, and then slams the limiter into a limiter and makes it work perfect somehow... And hell never register for a forum so someone has to get him heard....

http://cosmology.bandcamp.com/track/the ... cosmhop002

Some of you might enjoy, some of you wont, but yeah...

(I have a free hiphop-ish EP on there too, and the family fallout shelter is pretty experimental too, but yeah no shamelss self promo right?)

This is awesome, Im really color deficient and have generally horible eyesight so visual shows and stuff never really do it for me, but this is really cool, it reminds me of lightpaintings... You should team up with Sarah Nicolls haha, be a performance match made in heaven.

Whats the background music on that video anyway? Its pretty trippy in and of itsself...

Thanks man, really, means alot, I try, wish Id have thought to join a forum when I started, there was never anyone I could really ask aside from google haha... I just fealt bad that someone thought I came of as being superiorish or w.e., because I really do feel like there are alot, and I mean alot, of way more talented artists on this forum alone, as evidenced by this thread... I think its good to be my own biggest critic though, Id rather second guess myself then publish stuff Im unhappy with...

But, all that hubub up there, dont mind it, me n legend4ry talked it out, and its all group-hug smilies and good vibes, was a simple misunderstanding and we both saw each others sides in the end essentially... It looked alot more viscous then it was, like he said we were both just stating our opinions, I tihnk it looked more like an arguement from the outside point of view, but its just hearty debate, what fun would the forum be without it?
