Dubstep is dead?

Post by TooMuch » Fri Apr 29, 2011 2:00 pm

Anyone else getting this from people they know?? Hearing it a lot on facebook. For me its not at all but to a lot of people who have much more of a variation in the tunes they listen to seem to be feeling like this..

There's more good bass music coming out now than there ever was, people have to be idiots not to see that

Well you could say that Dubstep is dying in Cardiff and more progressive / new sounds are being pushed.

Drums and bass is still alive (it's been around for 15+ years) and it's going strong, however, Dubstep is on a downhill slope right about now. My local record shop is reducing it's Dubstep stocks by a huge 50%+, meanwhile its House stocks are constantly increasing. I think it's now the time for the future sounds to move in, however, I have a feeling that Dubstep may return to it's former glory when beatport stops getting flooded with crap, etc.

I just 'discovered' jazz and it is definitely not dead, Radio 3 on Sunday nights is sick :D One time I heard some reet good contemporary progressive stuff.
Death normally implies a commercial/public invisibility though underground scenes are normally kicking it large

It's only been growing in my opinion. I have just really gotten into it in the past 2 years, but I have seen no signs of dying out (in my area at least). Local bars/restaurants have started having decent artists like Heyoka and various others, (at least ones that I have heard of) come play their stuff on Thursdays. We were even talking about it in my audio technology class the other day. Long live the bass.

depends whether you count the more experimental stuff coming out on labels like swamp81, hessle audio etc as dubstep... if yes then shits healthier than ever, but if you strictly mean the more traditional 140bpm sound then yeah that seems to be getting played out less and less

I know whats dead.....those who cant get their elitist heads out of their elitist asses.....every type of music has different variations of that genre...MY GOD....you know i like most of the old school dubstep as much as the new dubstep. Why to people always have to argue about EVERYTHING. MY GOD just enjoy the music already. I still have yet to wrap my head around this whole dubstep debate it is so INSANE.....dubstep isnt dead its ALIVE and IN ITS PRIME....sucks for those who cant see that. May be if they could just pull their head out of their ass for just five minutes :middlefinger:

yeah you don't know shit about the debate coz you spent the last 6 years listening to what you friends told you was good rather than ever daring to find music for yourself.
seriously. dubstep has been hyped SO HARD over the last 5-6 years that you would really have had to try hard not to have heard of it before now..... or you just never made any attempt to learn about new music.
