Advice on CDJs? (Calling ALL CDJ-ers)
Hi people,
I need advice on CDJs, basically the story goes... (I'm a newb haha)
My friends own decks and all use vinyl, I myself am looking to get my first pair of mixing equipment but want to get CDJs rather than Vinyl. This down to the fact that when a track is released I'd be able to purchase it straight away and burn it to a cd, rather than wait for the Vinyl to be delivered.
I'm looking to spend about £500 on CDJs which isn't alot I understand but it's my first pair (not sure I want to fork out too much).
Thing is I want the CDJs to have that Vinyl emulation so I can sometimes cue up in the same way as you do with Vinyl, but the problem is I'm having trouble finding a budget pair with that feature, problem is all the CDJs have all these effects and to be honest i don't intend to being Disco Dave so I'm not greatly interested in having boatloads of effects.
As I will just be mixing 140 and 128 etc.
Just want some budget CDJs with Vinyl Emulation...
Gemini CDJ 600s look quite nice but I don't think they have vinyl emulation
Numark NDX400s look good too but I'm not sure they have vinyl emulation
Please please please recommend a pair, I'm not rich and i'm a teen so I can't fork out for any Pioneer CDJ 800s!
ALSO - Is Vinyl emulation really worth it on CDJs or should I just get a decent pair without vinyl emulation?

Save money until you can afford Pioneers. They're worth it.
Re: Advice on CDJs? (Calling ALL CDJ-ers)
CDJ 800 is cheaper than the 1000 and far cheaper than the 2000 and does its job just fine.
Or jut get a pair of these:

I don't know how "serious" you are about djing etc, but my advice would be, do not save up and spend boatloads of money on snazzy new equipment if you are just starting out. It
The thing is, I spent $1800 on two brand new cdjs, and a 3-channel Numark mixer. I learned how to mix on them, and had quite a nice time, but never really got into it the way I thought I would. I played out in a trendy bar a couple of times and realised it wasn't really what I was into. So then they were in my cupboard for a long time, before I decided to sell them. Then I found out that the market in Melbourne (where I live) is full of good condition second hand cdjs etc from people who have bought them and then never used them. So, I could only get $600, FOR THE LOT!
So, what I spent $1800 on, I could have bought for $600, slightly used, and then not felt as bad when it turned out that I didn't use them much.
I don't mean that you aren't going to get into it, definitely not! Just think about the outlay, new Pioneers cost over $1500 per unit, which is madness when you can get something that works in a similar way for a much smaller price. If you really get into it, when it's time to upgrade you'll know what you want and you won't have to ask randoms on the internet

Re: Advice on CDJs? (Calling ALL CDJ-ers)
if you are serious pick up some CDJ 400s..
if you are just testing the water.. try a Numark Mixtrack
what are you planning on doing for a mixer?

Re: Advice on CDJs? (Calling ALL CDJ-ers)
I reckon it's worth saving up for some decent Pioneers (800's or above) coz tbh no matter what cheaper ones you get, at the back of your head you'll always be thinking "damn i want some pioneers", and you can pick a pair up for really cheap these days. I recently got a pair of CDJ1000mk3's with a pioneer DJM400 mixer, a pair of TDL monitors and some Sennheiser headphones off of gumtree for £1,200, which seems alot but what a deal.... did have to make a trip to london to pick em up, but it was worth it. This said the Denon CDJ's look pretty mad. around the same price as pioneer though i think?
