Finding the pitch of a resampled sound?

Post by ChadDub » Sat Apr 30, 2011 10:18 pm

I just fucked with a sample of a conga drum to make a little lead synth sounding thing, but one thing is wrong. I don't know what pitch it is.

Like, I don't know how to tell what pitch it actually is playing if I play it with a C5 on my keyboard, or any other note. How do I figure this out?

load up a sine oscillator and play C5 on your created sound and try to get the same note to play out of the sine oscillator

If you're using Ableton, load up the Spectrum effect. Hovering your mouse over the graph will show you what pitch it is.

Im pretty sure your on FL, so do this:
Load the sampe up in Edison, click the on regions, and select "detect pitch regions".
It will now show you the pitch of the sample.
Set the root note to whatever pitch it was in, and its fixed :D

^this. or you can link your sample to a mixer channel, throw wave candy on that channel, and then click on on spectrum at the bottom of the box (that is assuming you use FL) then hover over with your....ill let you figure the rest out :W:

I ended up going with Blinkesko's idea. Thanks. Works like a charm.

And to Rando, yeah. I really want to know anything I can. Thanks for the compliment.

I tend to go by ear. If it doesn't sound right, it probably isn't.
