That was poor form on my part. As for your tune ID there's a thread dedicated to that topic here. Hopefully one of our local experts on the more hype sounding stuff can help you out.

Enjoy the forum. :W:

Yup. But in one day I managed to familiarize myself with much of the genre.

The song in question is Benny Benassi feat. Gary Go - Cinema (Skrillex Remix).

Skrillex is basically public enemy number one around here so hopefully you don't let the shit storm you might encounter for asking about one of his tracks turn you off to discovering some other music and styles within dubstep around here and digging into the roots of the genre. Good luck.

The tune is Benny Benassi - Cinema (Skrillex remix) but I'm not helping you by doing this.

However, I'm helping you by doing this.

Aha, thank you very much Bicuit and Ronin!! That was my first dubstep song I heard so I only wanted to know it's name, but I am curious as to why is Skrillex hated here, does he bash other artists? Also, from what I heard, my favorite artists so far are Chrispy, Trolley Snatcher, and Bar9.

It's what Skrillex represents, the more aggresive midrangey sound and his image that seems to get panties in a twist around here.

And the fact that once he's done making money with dubstep he'll most likely jump on the next bandwagon.

The explains why his songs were playing at Gradnight. But at least he's getting the genre reach out to different people who don't know about it, like me for example. I never heard of dubstep until 2 days ago.

The roots of Dubstep lie in a sound that was more minimal, sub bass heavy, and atmospheric than the stuff a lot of the bigger producers are pushing today.

Stuff like this for example:

A lot of people on here were around for that time and sound and remember it very fondly and they see the sound getting pushed now as kind of a deterioration of something they love very dearly. As best I can understand it Skrillex is a symbol of that to people here and they can get a little out of hand sometimes bashing people who are new to the genre who ask about him on here.

I wasn't myself around for that time and I came into the genre via the same type of stuff you probably did, and I still love a lot of that stuff but to say this forum broadened my horizons would be a bit of an understatement. I just had to hold my nose and wade through a certain amount of negativity to get there.

I can certainly relate to the sort of passion about music people have here even though I think the way some posters on here go about expressing it is pretty counterproductive at times. But check out that thread Ronin posted and hang around and you'll get exposed to some really good music and hopefully find some stuff you'll love that you might never have otherwise had an opportunity to find out about.

And in the interests of not being self-righteous I behaved the same sort of way with new kids who were showing up to punk rock shows when I was a youngin' because that's what I grew up on and I had a lot of passion for at that time. I'm just saying I see how much it sucks to be on the other end of that type of stuff now.

That would definitely take some getting used too on my part since I'm coming from the high-speed, ultra energized world of death metal into this atmospheric music, but it's definitely possibly. The more harsh beats appealed to me more since I'm used to brutal breakdowns, but I can definitely appreciate the more soft and slower aspects of dubstep. So far I like the audience MUCH more though. It's not a bunch of flamers who argue about genres or artists (even though I keep hearing about Skryllex) but which genre doesn't have It's scapegoat. I also have a question about "filthy" beats that are popular on youtube. I like them a lot, but compared to the video you just posted, they do seem like the deterioration you just mentioned. Are they so?

That's really a matter of opinion, it's not something I can give you a yes or no answer on and have it be an objective truth.
