He was shot through the left eye..... but then, the flag IS the wrong way round. Still, I doubt they'd show the face of the soldiers involved.

Oh sorry pal, didn't know that.
Still, why have they shown the face of the navy seal?
Also, that link says about the army. Is it the same rules for the Navy? I mean, they never (historically) 'charged' into battle.

1) becaues it is fake.... someone just used a burn tool, hue/saturation, and other basic photoshoppery

2) The Marines are part of the Navy. They have historically charged in everywhere since their inception

Osama bin Laden is irrelevant. There are always men like him and always will be. How a society reacts to them is the important thing. We failed.

Osama never could overturn our civil liberties, kill a million civilians or destroy the economy. He could never have divided people so much against each other that they resort to mass acts of detention and torture. He never had an air-force and could never destroy a city. His September 11 could have been stopped with locks on airplane cockpit doors.

He did not make us worse than him. We did that.

He never had that sort of power. He only had fear on his side. And we submitted to that.

We groveled like dogs before his table.

And for what? You still stand more chance of being hit by lightning than being killed by a terrorist.

My Nan, who was in the RAF, once told me something about war. She said, “It’s a race to the bottom.” One of her friends, also RAF, said to me: “When you’ve been through it, you know there’s nothing heroic there. It’s just the stupidest thing humans can ever do.” And we’ve been at it for ten years now with no signs of stopping any time soon.

We’ve destroyed our economies, our liberties and our humanity. We’ve killed children, women and men. Wiped out whole cities with phosphorous and knocked over entire countries.

Our reward is a dead body, dumped in the ocean.

Not fucking worth it.

if you world view is only the things that matter 1000 miles from your house, then you'll believe whatever the 11pm news tells you. ignorance goes across the world, no matter what passport you hold.

"Statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception."

@Pkay or anyone who can answer: Sorry, I must have phrased the about question poorly (it's now neither here nor there since we both agree the picture is a fake) but what I was driving at is do all sections of the U.S armed forces wear the flag that way round?
And, just to extra specially pedantic, how does one 'charge' on a ship? :P

It depends on the protocol for where the flag is to be worn on the uniform, which varies between branches and assignment specializations (and sometimes even from commander to commander). At least that's what I was lead to believe.

It's worn that way to convey the impression that the flag is "flying" relative to the direction of motion of the wearer.

Our navy is not simply bound to the sea... as i mentioned marines (part of the navy) perform a large portion of our ground based actions. Navy also have air assets as well.

But I guess to help make sense of it... ship bound navy do not wear BDU's so someone on a boat would never have that on their person. Same as when I was in the air force I did not have it on my flight line suit until I was forward deployed or unless i was put in a role where I was off the flightline and no longer in a support capacity. You don't wear that unless you're going to battle.

Stateside army, air force, marines, navy do not wear that flag for that reason.
