Advanced Midi Routing anyone?
I am currently trying to figure out how to do some midi routing that sounds simple enough and is simple but for some reason it seems impossible to do with the given parameters.
Here's the situation,
I have Logic 9 loaded up with Massive loaded up and I have a synth that I want to control the LFO on. I am completely aware that I can set MOD 5 DEN to any knob and go crazy with automation but this is where the going gets rough. I'm trying to figure out how to route the automation to a pad on my Maschine controller (just as a regular midi controller not using the plugin) to activate when pressed down and change the MOD 5 DEN to a different value. so for instance I would have one pad be MOD 5 DEN with a value of 65 to get say quarter notes, another pad with MOD 5 DEN with a value of 76 to get something like 12th notes and others so on and so forth so that I can play my automation instead of having to pencil it in.
I think this would also work with a gater or anything for that matter but I can't figure out for the life of me how to do it!
I'm a drummer so I like to be able to play rhythms as much as possible so what I'm trying to achieve is something like this.
Anyone with an answer or a suggestion Please feel free to respond or PM me
if you have any other midi routing tips for others those are welcome too!
Cheers!

Re: Advanced Midi Routing anyone?
i dont know if im just tired or your post is confusing...
IMO
you would have to do a separate automation. (can anyone second me?)
penciling it in would be easier than all this routing stuff your talking about....

Well it's not as complicated as it sounds, I basically just need the automation on the pad at a specific value. I don't need the pad to even play the note just the automation.Big Freq wrote:i dont know if im just tired or your post is confusing...

The weird part is that all the parameters I think I need are there but for some reason if I set them they don't work in the way they seem they should. I can post screens if anyone needs.
And I know penciling it in might be easier right away but I'd also like to learn how to do this so that I can have more options with midi.
Thanks for the input!
Re: Advanced Midi Routing anyone?
why dont you use two instances of massive with two different LFO settings?
i think you would like ableton a lot
a first i thought you meant "pad" as in long drawn out evolving synth type thing... sry i was tired...

Re: Advanced Midi Routing anyone?
im not sure it would be possible cause the only midi cc thing in massive in mod 5 den not mod 5 den 1 mod 5 den 2 mod 5 den 3 etc know what i mean?
unless you can figure out how to route a pad to "click mouse and drag up" control? is that even possible?

This sounds totally possible, despite your confusing requestQuantumBeat wrote:I am currently trying to figure out how to do some midi routing that sounds simple enough and is simple but for some reason it seems impossible to do with the given parameters.

Cheers!I don't know the answer - but look up sflogicninja's tutorials on midi/automation - I'm pretty sure he covers some really advanced stuff there, including shit like this

Haha what makes you say I'd like ableton so much?Big Freq wrote:why dont you use two instances of massive with two different LFO settings?

Also I know that's definitely possible and I've done it before but it's a little taxing on my CPU when I get a bunch of instances going. Also I really like to keep my mix as clean as possible and I know I can do folders but it's still a lot of extra tracks to work with. Thanks for the input though that's a good suggestion but unfortunately exactly what I'm trying to consolidate with this goal!

How would that help me accomplish my goal? I'm not sure why I would need to bounce to audio other than it's easier to mix and master with one audio track rather than a bunch of instruments.

he means that after you have multiple massive instances, you bounce the bassline to audio so that it won't cost CPU power.QuantumBeat wrote:Big Freq wrote:bounce to audio?
