Re: Old skool D'n'B & Jungle kills dubstep every time
Gotta admit since the dubstep sound went bro, I've been getting back into my dnb and jungle. It's annoying because I lost interest in these sounds when they went bro as well.
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.
Re: Old skool D'n'B & Jungle kills dubstep every time
lol i like the two choices for this poll
I would have to vote B cuz i'm a young n ignorant one. But definitely feeling the tracks in here and definitely bored to death of bro.. still
dubstep is what definitively brought me in to bass music. Before this i liked house and hip hop, but my idea of house was JP at the sound factory

breakbeats, 808's, pads n a couple samples. i'm sure we'd end up with a lot of nice tunes at the end of that battle.
inb4breakcore or the 100000th ragga jungle tune

dnb and jungle was centered more around turntables today's shitty dance music revolves around the computer. A dat machines and tape and other mediums of recording really gave this era its sound. today's dance music sucks because its all made on computers.

I too was disappointed when the breaks starting getting phased out and the 2-step drums came in. I was thankful when the breaks started coming back in around 2000-1. I guess I was too much of a junglist at heart.
One guy that did convince me otherwise about 2-step drums is Jonny L. His beats had a heavy snap to them and he had a way with his basses. In fact, before this thread even came up, I had his record Cut-Off / Move Upon sitting on my turntable. These two tunes are so dope and the bass hits so hard, I can't find them on Youtube or else I would put them up. I don't know if anyone else here rates him or not. The Bells is another classic.
With that said, my favorite label is Reinforced Records. That shit really influenced me.

It's all about moombahton, but y'know, like, it's been a, like, a whole year now? So I'm, like, totally ready to jump onto the next thing already.

Some of the older DnB tunes are great, and some of the older dubstep tunes are great. The current state of DnB is a joke, and the current state of dubstep is a joke. (them sentences are super boring, but noway as boring as both these genres are now to me)
I am down with the fucking SKWEEE nowadays
Dude, I couldn't disagree more. There is some fucking sick DnB about at the moment. It went through a real bad time but now people are making it good again. Netsky is amazing, so are B-Complex, Instra:mental, Commix etc
