Post by zacjack12 » Sat May 07, 2011 7:23 pm

hello everyone Im new here and would love some feedback!
Ive been producing for over 6 years now and have done some house and UKhardcore stuff and its all fun, but recently fell in love with dubstep. decided to give it a go!
this is more melodic than dirty, but am currently working on peiceing together a dirty dubstep track.

anyway tell me what you think! thanks!

This needs more overall frequency from 1k to 3k, like a light boost or cut around everything else, and a small overall cut at 500hz, and its a bit repetitive, but that isnt necessarily bad, I just love super changey dubstep like sluggo and helicopter showdown.

that was perfect thank you, yeah I feel you on the repetitiveness haha, im switching it up right now, and brought the levels down a bit, it sounds much better thanks! Im working on a filthier track right now but filthy is a little hard to work with compared to melody for some reason, Im having a hard time getting the sound I want. I'll get it though, thanks again!

Track was ok, sounded a bit "sparse" like you had large gaps in your frequency spectrum. Personally i'd get the specturm out on each of your sounds and see which ones are a bit thin, and look at thickening them up. Nice vibes though :W:

BTW - who says you can't be filthy AND melodic? ;-)

thanks for the replys! yeah Ive been working out the kinks in the frequencies, I messed it up somewhere, but seem to have it back to where it should be, thanks! also, im useing sennheiser HD 205 headphones when im mixing, and the low frequencies you cant hear all to well in them, but it has great highs and mid range sound, whats a good pair for studio headphones for a decent price? thanks!
