Sonar Fest 2011

Post by shuedet » Sun May 08, 2011 8:39 am

for my 21st my parents are shouting me a trip to europe, so am obviously stoked. timing will coincide with sonar and am keen to spend some time in spain and get to this, lineup is immense compared to anything i've been to in the past.
I will be traveling alone though and festivals are definitely a lot more fun with a group of people so was wondering if anyone on here will be going and is ok with having an amicable kiwi tag along.

let me know

My highlights were:
CHRIS CUNNINGHAM! - ZOMG insane, all electro sets should have visuals like this, ALL OF THEM. AHHH
Shackelton: Holy fuck that bass was just so so so heavy!
David Rodegan - what a boss. So mean. can't wait to catch him again at outlook
Aphex twin: looking forward to seeing them for about 4 years, did not disappoint
Atrak: randomly wandered over, he is a badman mixer
Gas lamp: most schizophrenic set ever, but I loved it, who mixes hardcore gash into james blake?
Africa Hiteck - was so gutted that shackleton was about to play, mark pritchard always puts on a solid set

Also meeting the guy who runs boiler room, pretty much made my night - im such a fangirl sometimes.

lowlights:
Pearson sound - was so excited about seeing him, yeah sure he had some technicals but tunes were average :/
Scuba - too much techno
Actress - pretty much ruined my hearing for the night
Magnetic man - yeah I wasnt expecting much, but the fact they had sgt pokes and p money with them gave me hope

Plus not as many epic visuals as I was expecting. Plus all the gear we scored was AVERAGE
