Technics gone, Cutting houses not far behind?
Technics gone, Cutting houses not far behind?
With the news of technics ceasing production, does that spell the end for cutting houses? Its always been a dream of mine to make a tune that im happy enough to cut to dub, but thats looking increasingly unlikely with the digital medium becoming the standard. Your thoughts?

If things keep going the way they are then yes, unfortunately they are going to disappear.
BUT
Hopefully though, sometime soon, Simon Cowell will start up his international chain of dubplate cutting and mastering houses.

Well... Maybe... But there are other good record players out there. I have had my numark tt-500 for over 3 years now and i actually would rather play on them rather than 1210s, but that's just me...

All things move in trends.... give it a year or so I think it'll start to pick major - i hate to say it but I can see vinyl becoming a bit of a trendy boy fad thing soon - like you know, "oh you don't play vinyl? im sorry this place is only for REAL DJ's." "its sooooooooo vintage. CD's are for corperate dogs, man" - everything moves in circles... ya we might have to endure hipster trendy types buying up 2nd hand 1210's but more money into the economy = more supply!

Less than 2 weeks old...I don't think cutting houses are going anywhere anytime soon regardless of the fact that techs are discontinued.

People are forgetting the high end "audiophile" hi-fi market also - those guys listen to vinyl too, and don't use Technics 1210's to listen to them on.

I don't think cutting houses are going to dissapear, I wonder what the new industry standard turntables are gonna be once all the 1210s die?

I don't think there will be an industry standard. Clubs and bars etc will just have cdjs. This is pretty much happening already. Anyone still buying records will be be listening to them at home on some prehistoric technics. It will be a while before this happens though imo.PinUp wrote:I don't think cutting houses are going to dissapear, I wonder what the new industry standard turntables are gonna be once all the 1210s die?
