He will continue to make topics which belong in 'genreal discussion' in the production forum, helping to keep this place useful, educational, and on topic.

More mods changing and fixing things that arent broken, like the dubs forum.

Weekly threads in woe of everything thats wrong with DSF.

Still no simple locking of repeated topics which would really be the end all to this, because the mods are afraid of offending the 8,000 people registering daily to post topics that already exist on the top pages of forums.

Can the proponents of one forum (seriously) air your concerns with a divided forum? If a forum divide happens, maybe the powers that be can take steps to address your concerns?

I'll get it started:

The deepend forum will be boring, slow, people will be hesitant to post for fear of looking dumb, the people in the deepend will think they're the shit, the production people not in the deepend will feel like they're inferior, the shallowend people won't get answers to their legitimate questions, the shallowend will be completely awash in insolent 15 yo's with too much time and aggression on their hands without the stabilizing force of more reasonable people...

I did say my part in that thread, as per usual it was a pretty long post, not sure what page it's sitting on.

In summary:

DSF production forum is a place to learn, yes, but I'd rather a DSF where the odd silly thread is free to exist.

What would DSF be without jaydot threads? Without jrisreal racking up a post count of 70k in a day? Without Chaddub declaring himself to be a 'beast' every 5 seconds? Without me making a retarded thread about communist space octopi attacking our freedom? Some might say it would be all the better for it. I'd argue it would lack humanity, personality, charm the very things that attracted me to here and the very things that keep me here. One of the best things about DSF, to me, is all the contrasting personalities, I feel changes to DSF would stifle those.

As for the question 'did this deserve its own thread' I'm sure I could justify it by saying I've raised awareness of the coming poll on the splitting of the forum, but ultimately, no, it probably didn't, but does that mean it shouldn't exist here? It depends on what kind of a DSF you want really.

i understand wanting to keep this place useful, educational, and on topic. But some time a tech's got to laugh too, and general discussion is the house of the devil.
