Believe[d]-JuxT PLEASE?!?!?

Post by b_brooks » Fri May 13, 2011 4:06 am

PLEASE?!?!?! The mix is low, and all that but I'm really (or was, I've just about quit) trying to get my vocal chopping and such down and I really think I had something here. The song may not be great but it's my first song that I felt HAD hope. So please people, if someone could give me some feedback on my vocal work here, I would greatly appreciate it.

I think there is hope here : ) Mix down is going to help a lot here. I understand you are going for a Burial type vibe here but the low end/all the reverb needs sorted here. There was some craziness going on in my headphones. It sounds like there is a sub bass, pad and all the verb from the kick? If you want your kick to boom like that, consider letting the kick be the sub? These things are fighting for head room. My stuff started to sound 100% better when I spent more time EQing elements and working on gain structure. If this were my tune that is what I would do next. There was a female vocal in the second third of the tune that was getting drowned out by everything else. I'd also suggest using several in key atmospheric elements that weave in and out of each other, left way down in the mix to create that Burial type pad/atmosphere. Might try time stretching some samples and running them through a granular synth.

I love the overall vibe and style you have, definitely see the Burial vibe for sure, I'd say give what Fragment was talking about a shot, the music is great the technical approach will come with time ^^
