Just make it 2-3 weeks after signup before you can post in production. People will have either learned to search either via google or on the forums by then, or have actually experimented and found out that it is *surprise* fun to experiment. Or at least they will see the massive amount of hate the forum generates and formulate questions properly. One busy forum is better than two dead ones imo, plus what is the point of making a cool kids hangout? Everyone who is better wont want to descend into the commoners forum with the masses, and everyone in the commoners forum will be spreading the type of misinformation that having production forums is supposed to eliminate. Imho.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget.

That's a pretty solid idea actually. Though I dunno if it's possible to implement. Definitely making the forum read only unless you had been registered for a certain amount of time would stop people in their tracks who were just coming to ask questions that had already been answered. Then hopefully they would either go ask their questions somewhere else or read the stickies and find the answers there.

would also have to think this is a good idea, and i unfortunately would probably not make the cut. the few bad apples around here make it a crappy place for all of us. another idea is implement a chat room of some type. dont know much about the coding but i do know i use to go on a forum where there was an IRC style chat built right in, which would be cool too. just for everyday use.

this forum is just huge i think thats it and people are stupid. i searched the words literally "DSF" or "dubstep forum eqing techniques" so i wouldnt have to go through the endless loadtimes with soundcloud links. but people dont get it.

maybe create just a few open stickies (IE the bible and tips and bass and such) and everything else just be made private. until one asks a mod to be let on a list? (dont even know if thats possible) but its basically the read only idea. i know when i use to be on trancefix, you needed 25 posts alone before you could get to downloads or links. that would filter out some, but there will always be these people trolling this place more and more. we all just need to be invited to a new cyber-gathering place with a new name. keep this in tact cause it is awesome history of a genre IMO. have a thread or and invite to everyone and just keep this for new tunes coming and the bible. or IRC chat. ionno. i just know im sick of seeing how do i make this sound threads. make the sound sure. how about post a song and be a community.

i love the people here cause they give so freely and i try to as well when i can. but the people who just roll in and ask/take are the problem. thats my two sense. haha.

Dubstep forum will evolve and likewise deevolve with the evolution/or not of the genre, but still there's a hardcore community here, as long as we encourage the good ideas/ not be so harsh on the ideas that are not so good.

In a nutshell, say every thread I make is brilliant (which it is) but at the same time don't noob bash (tooooo much :6 ) because you could turn away a potentially good member of the community.

Memes and banter will always be here though, which is what I love about DSF.

Bravo on that first post  This place needs moar of that

If this does come down to a vote i'll most definitely raise my rifle to preserve the union. Totally wrong approach to solve the problem. It doesn't even solve the problem.

LOL, I wasn't sure to take this as a par or a compliment. But I know what you mean :D

Either way, as I said in the other thread, I'm deadset against the sub forum idea for many reasons. And should my vote count for anything it will be against. The idea of splitting feels much like a reactive misunderstood move, rather than tackling the core problems (many of which may rely on more active modding - praise be wub - or forum improvments) .
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

Ive got to admit, I was all for the forum split a few days ago but have changed my mind entirely.

The reason for this, without meaning to sound like a brown nose, is Wubs modding. It has honestly restored my faith in DSFP. Long may it continue!

btw this forum is the center of dubstep on the net.

ie. everybody who wants to produce dubstep will go here. in case you people didn't realise dubstep has gotten really popular. and I mean really popular. dubstep is like shitty trance music now aka a bunch of stnuc like it. people are actually surprised when they find out that I like dubstep because they think dubstep is this horrible aggressive dick pumping thing and I'm such an awesome person who would never like shit like that.

so obviously with dubstep being more popular it's going to attract a lot more idiots to the forum.

dubstep is the problem. not the forum.

This is sadly true. I used to feel excited when I told people I listened to dubstep because they would always go "Whats that?" and I'd get to whip my ipod out and play them some tunes and try and convert them. These days when people ask me what I listen to/make I feel embarrassed to say dubstep because I know what they'll instantly think of me afterwards so instead I usually just say "Experimental bass led electronic music, often with a lot of swing in the drums" or something to that effect.

I know it's a bit lame but it's much easier than then having to spend ages trying to convince them that I'm not some Holister wearing 'trendy' kid trying to suck Datcisionllexlink's cock all day...and if I say garage they think I'm a member of So Solid Crew...we just can't win these days :\
