i ALWAYS use battle style at home. used to have my decks on a small table and just got used to it. hate it when i play else where and te tables are the other way round. feels like i'm gonna smack the tone arm all the time. each to their own though i suppose!

tbh i both pitch chase and touch the platter

battle mode is long simply cos i feel like i have to make excessive movements to ride the pitch and i dont like how 'far' away the needle feels

that said, after a few mixes it feels natural again and you're fine

my mates just put it well bluntly after my set on friday when i started bitchin about things in the setup and they reminded me that a) it was all top class equipment i was using and b) if you're gona play you have to be ready for anything in the setup and know how to deal with it

bit of both. mainly platter though. but i'm just so used to leaning over the table to use the slider its not a big thing for me anymore.

that for one, isn't true

one of my old housemates had a djm 800 and could scratch the SHIT out of it/with it... there's definitely some mixers you cant use to scratch but he managed fine on that...
"He managed fine" could mean he's an experienced scratch DJ using a shit mixer though. Or maybe it was a modified fader? Innofader fits Pioneers. I'm not saying your housemate's 800 wasn't scratchable, I'm just saying that every single Pioneer mixer I've used has been SHIIIIT for scratching. They're just not designed for it at all. I've been scratching for about 7 years, I'm no Qbert but I know a good scratch mixer when I use one, and it definitely ain't Pioneer or A&H.

Granted, you can use phono/line, or even a shitty crossfader for 75% of scratch techniques, but unless you can crab flawlessly on the fader, it ain't worthy of saying "you can scratch on this mixer" in my opinion.

p.s battle style is the way forward! dun kno about the beat juggling

if anything mate you're probably more experienced scratching than he is... he'd been scratching for about 2-3 years, but he was always very very quick to pick things up (he didn't really do much else with his time than smoke weed and mix/scratch) but yeh, it was just a standard DJM 800, no mods, but he could scratch the hell out of it, 3 finger crabs, triple flares etc... lol he was baaaaad!

was class when he got Serato, loaded up Arnie soundclips, literally minutes of fun hahahaha
