in fact Moombahton just sounds like slowed down uk funky or is uk funky just sped up reggaeton? (without the latin lyrics)
nothing new really is it? 'new styles' based around remixes always seem to have a short life span...

It's just reggaeton mixed with other elements of dance music.

Reggaeton was stereotyped as latin music for latins only on latin night at your local club.. outside the occasional well known white person friendly pitbull track or shakira remix it wasn't even really given a fair shake.

If you look at reggaeton from a production point of view some of their producers are just short of absolutely amazing. Combining it with elements already friendly to the masses (electro, dubstep, etc) its potential for unique and interesting bits is pretty high.

yeh when I travelled through south america a few years back I heard a lot of reggaeton that I liked but found the lyrics ruined alot of it (the instrumentals would have sounded better) and that's why I like uk funky cause it uses the same rhythm at a different tempo...

I guess I just find it amusing that a 'new style' (which is basically reggaeton) was created by someone playing a record at a slower tempo...

I think the fact that when we are so used to a certain tempo, we started feeling different is a track is played a different tempo.

I mean, UK garage was born when DJs used to slow down DnB tunes to a House music tempo at chillout rooms in DnB raves.

So yeah.

It's originated from the track "Moombah" by Chuckie & Sivio Economo.

Whereas "ton" comes from "Reggaeton".

Reggaeton is a nice genre without lyrics... but I think the rythm is way too repetitive... Bum DaPss Da--Bum DaPss Da... and his fanbase... well... everyone is stupid, they think they are the center of the universe, they try to copy everything [Hipster-like the guys from LMFAO or they wear gangsta' clothes] and most of 'em are killers, rapists, or people who doesn't want to read a single book and sells stuff from other people... Please moombahtoners, don't act like 'em.
