Help with making demo Cd's to distribute...

Post by ill.selection » Mon May 07, 2007 1:54 am

Hey all, I just joined the forum so I'm glad this is here. I'm a lonely producer from Washington D.c. who is now got some tunes ready to pass out to DJ's and what not. So the question is... how do I do that?

Yes, dumb question... but here is the deal... maybe I'm being paranoid but do i give entire tracks? have the tracks cut off at a certain point? Or sorta bootleg it like hip hop DJ's with random shoutouts to avoid heads copping my tracks? I want DJ's to spin my stuff, but I don't want people to steal my tunes.

I can also do the 'poor man's copyright' and send a copy to myself... but i dunno if that'll take care of it. Thanks, and please help a brother take it to the next level

hey what's going on? what i found my brother and a few other producer friends is keep it in the circle or trade full songs for full songs with other producers/djs. i'm sure that way they will represent your music to the fullest at the same time keeping it free from someone ripping your tunes.

so an example:
brother produces and spins drum n bass. he gives his tunes to friends who also spin. and in turn they will play it at the clubs. then they can see how the crowd responds to your tunes.

of course this is just one way to do it. i'm sure other people have their views on it. hope this helps and good luck.
