I don't understand why u say that beatport is shit... it depends on how you use it! I personally think it's a great tool, easy to use, with great sources of new stuffs, depending on how interested you are in digging to find the "special" stuff u're looking for.

Then it's true that it is quite a wide tool, so maybe not the best thing for the deeper sounds.
And it looks to me that a lot of the deep stuff are released on vinyl... so obviously, u won't get them in digital stores.

beatport is alot easier to use if you "follow" all of the artists and labels that you like.

if you check it weekly it will notify you of all the new releases of those you are following.

pretty simple really.

i think there's a big difference between "deep" and the so-called "dungeon sound" (which is a really stupid term imo.)

some of the stuff that's of the latter is far too cold, boring, and dated imo.

i have no problem stating that there is def a lack of DEPTH in a majority of tunes coming out right now regardless of where you buy them.

Pretty much what everyone else has said.

It's a good time to be listening.

Is there a reason you guys prefer boomkat over juno for digital downloads? Does more money go to the artists, or something?
If possible, I try to buy direct from the label/artists site, but at the only deep show i've been too (saw Truth, unfortunately we don't get too many shows up here in VT), I asked where to purchase, and they said Juno.

I think deep is another way to describe soul. It's a depth or a capacity in the feeling and character of something.

So a better question to ask would be; does Soul still exist?

From the looks of that picture, I'd say an awful lot.
