Tips for introducing more energy into a track...

Post by Capture pt » Fri May 27, 2011 6:31 pm

Yo,

My question in, what tips are there to introduce more energy into a portion of a track, without changing the main elements.

Let me clarify, i have a 2nd drop that I want to feel more energetic, it follows a big breakdown hands in the air moment and i want the brockout to ensure after the drop.

I have a drum loop allready with extra hats going off for some more energy, and have played with the automation, but it still feels slightly more eyes down.

What techniques could i apply?

Cheers.

Extra kicks, extra harmonics or just simply take out something from your first drop could work :W:

post the clip

sometimes you would need only a few db more to the first kick for exmpl or kick snare or a bass or a whole part...draw sum more kicks or make the shitloads of rolling to the hihats and ghost elements(add sum groove)...or sum resonance...it depends

i could edit all night long :cornlol:

Complex Carbs are great for energy. Perhaps and apple or some oatmeal.

Or perhaps an energy drink such as red bull, monster, amp, etc.

Thanks I will try this out. I always toyed with the idea of handing out bananas at the drop but wasn't sure it would have enough weight.

Fuck knows what you other guys are on about.

One thing I usually do to create more energy in the track is bring the shakers, tamborines and hi hats forward by 3-8 ticks and of course play around with their velocities. If you post a clip of your track I can give you some proper feedback.

you need more variations and dinamix (velocities)
also am not sure that you could bang our facezs of whatever drop in type of minimal music

and the buuild up should make you expect something bigger - make it more harsh...cut it when the drop starts

Yeah, buildup was kinda weak.. And is it just me, or does some of the basses sound really wet? :s Like, they have drowned or something, lol

i find that adding just noise in the backround helps it come together, and brings its own energy, like in the beginning of bass cannon by flux, you hear just general chatter of people talking, it may not be energy but it could help?

make the volume in the build up a few db less than the drop this will make it seem more powerful when it drops and just increasing the eq spectrum by layering the low/high's and mids rather than them all being squeezed into the mix and things getting lost, make the drums punchy and the bass hit hard when it drops also a little tip I recently found is to make a patch with just white noise with some reverb and to have this playing all the time not to loud but it really brings out the high ends also..

also compress the tracks to make it louder without clipping to much or at all and percussion such as rides and hi-hats layered by rounding of the eq's at different points on eac hi hat and layering them

basically the song is a sandwich and your hungry so layer that sandwich
