MC's ruining music...

Post by CrippsCorner » Mon May 30, 2011 3:17 pm

Just thought I'd make a thread as I'm currently experiencing some rage face.

Why do they have this gob shite chatting over all of Youngsta's sets on Rinse? Takes any enjoyment out of listening back to them, only reason I can think of is so people don't just rip the tracks?

I mean, live, great... add some hype or whatever, but come on man I'm just trying to chill out to some beautiful tracks I don't wanna hear your shit! "yeah" ... "Youngsta's doing it hard" ... "feel the bass" ... do I really need to hear that?

audience interaction has always played a major part in the success of pirate radio. when people such as toast read twitter messages and txts it adds a personal factor to the radio thus creating a personal bond and a sense of loyalty. it might not to you i particular, and thats cool, but it does to a lot of people. and also you answered your own question...

It's about time youtube-mp3.org had a "remove MC" button.

Sgt. Jokes by the way, agree with the above, it can personalise it.

Nah I agree, in respects that it shines the fact that you're actually listening in live, which is great.

But I think on the Youngsta mixes, well certainly the ones I have it's just a bit ott.

No other show I've heard is quite as excessive and tbh, pointless as that. I mean if he actually had something interesting to say... maybe it's getting to me too much :corntard: but I find it quite hard to listen to the sets, which is a real shame as obviously Youngsta blasts out some of the best beats known to man.

I understand in these times that you have to protect the tracks, but it's a shame the rest of us have to suffer just for the fucks that don't inject money into the music. Is the MC basically employed just to be as annoying as possible!?

I'm not aiming this towards all MC's/hosts btw, some can definitely improve the music. I guess it's like when I first saw HLC live, I always thought they were complete shit tbh on recordings, and I still think that, but seeing them live, yeah I understand the hype they added.

toast is a badman- have you listened to much pirate radio before? its standard procedure

just listen to bloomin studio mixes if youre that bothered about it, look in the mixes sections, theres loads with a similar selection to youngsta- or if his djing skill is what you go for, buy his cd

there is a lot of vocals from lx one on the tunes though it may be offputting

he even says youngsta twice during 1 tune and its like hes not even saying anything

i love having toast hosting the youngsta sets on rinse... adds a warm, community element to it w/ the shouts and what not. i even laugh at the jokes they occasionally crack. big up the MCs! most of them add greatly to the experience imo

edit: i DO find that SP can be a bit much sometimes. still tho a badman in general

To be honest listening live ain't what's pissing me off, it's the playback. I've heard your chat, now I just wanna hear the tunes, if they could record them without the MC's on that would be the best of both worlds imo!

Seriously, what has happened to RESPECT in this game?

This isnt just based on your comment, but it seems like everywhere I look you see people just chatting shit about people they dont know, slating well respected people in the industry just because it doesn't fit their personal taste?
This is whats wrong with dubstep.
Until you buy the mix cd or the individual track then its not yours. So you cant really complain if theres an mc protecting it over the stream.

Now i have been to many raves & club night with a million jump up dnb mcs ruining the vibe, but this is completely different.
Respect to Toast for doing a wicked job keeping it lively.

Lets just push the positivity back into this! :)

I'm all for positivity... but it sounds shit and ruins the music for me? I wanna drift off to the sound of dubstep, not be told how "deep the bass" is, yes, I know that already thanks. Yes, this is just my opinion, some will agree and some won't. But where you've said this is what is wrong with dubstep, no... I don't believe that at all. I wanna enjoy the sounds, what's wrong with it is not being able to hear them properly!

Also what does it matter whether someone knows someone or not? I don't care if it were my own brother MCing over the top, I'd still tell him to stfu.

thats all good mate, each to their own. Im just saying calling people out and dissing them in forums is not my style thats all.
I just focus on the things I do like, and i think Toast is a good mc for radio.

some MCs bring some extra personal flavor to the music (especially when they have dope bars), but some just make you wanna throw a dozen rotten eggs at them.

but id have to say the worst and most annoying MC has to be the one from Boiler Room. it sucks cause i cant hear ANY BR set past the point where he starts talking wild shit. its like he puts his lips directly on the mix and just starts rambling nonsense

i think a good MC makes the show a lot better, when i listen to the show toast makes it more of an actual radio show rather than a continuous mix and i think he adds a lot to it. a lot of people really hate MC'ing but i think with dubstep especially that you've gotta have it. although imo lx one's bars are really weak...

i was gonna say pretty much this. Allow these hate threads. People should be fucking glad they can listen to people like youngsta every week regardless of whether they like the MC or not. Toast is a legend too.

What most people have said before it adds the personal touch which is what I love about pirate radio & radio in general. HOWEVER there are some mcs on rinse who have been spitting the same bars week in week out for years now which really does grind after a while. Fresh music with stale bars, it doesn't make sense.

I think that toast, sp:mc and lx one are all pretty good mc's when it comes to letting the music do the talking. Theyre hardly ever ruining any of the tunes or screaming down the mic like some grime and old ukg mc's used to do. Personally i like the sound of their voices, especially sp.

For me, Toast definitely adds to the vibe of the show, he doesn't shout over it like a complete tnuc! One mc I really really don't like over dubstep is Badness, totally ruins it shouting.

I don't think i'd enjoy Youngsta's show nearly as much without Toast.

He compliments Yunx's tunes nicely, he knows when to shut up and how much/little to say.

Some of my favourite moment's in my time listening to Yunx have been from Toast, like in the Old School Mix when Yunx goes mental with two copies of Midnight Request Line "WHOOO WANTS IT BACK"

Jesus compared to some of the D&BTV MC's he's Chuck D. @MC Stapleton :6:
