Chris Brown is a mong, and so is Diplo, but that track that Diplo produced for Chris Brown was sick! The instrumental anyway, the vocals are whack.Duffman wrote:None of the teens in my area have even heard of dubstep, nor has anyone really. So instead of getting told how sick the beat in a Skrillex song is I get told how sick the beat in a Chris Brown song is.
I'm not quite sure what's worse.......
There any "teens" in here that listen to real dubstep?

I'm probably one of the only teens in my area (Amsterdam) listening to DMZ and stuff like that. But brostep (especially Rusko, not Skrillex) is increasing in popularity right now. There's a lot of rappers out here who started using dubstep beats, some of them in a good way, some of them in a bad way.

Ah another person telling me what is "real" dubstep and what isn't. Congratulations, you have the elitism of a 20+ year old. Also, the pioneers of "kittens being grinded up in a blender" stuff are mostly canadian, not American (at least not UnitedStatesofAmerican). It's the mainstream in any country that's going to latch on to the more noise based music because it's loud and exciting and pisses off mom and dad. Look at the history of most youth based music and they've all basically got those aspects. Plenty of UK cats are all up on Flux Pavillion and Dr. P (in fact both of them are from the UK) but that kind of music is still blamed on Americans. Lame. America is a giant place and to pidgeonhole all of us into one identity is getting rather old...Clean wrote:I guess this is a weird way to introduce myself but you will have to manage, and I know there have been a million topics about Skrillex, etc but here me out. We have made the train wreck of a genre called brostep.( Well I dont know if we can take all the credit for it.)To get to my point, I see Americans, and mostly kids being stereotyped all the time for listening to brostep, as it has started to get even more mainstream. I am a teenager, and I cannot stand brostep. I have to deal with other kids talking about how awesome Skrillex's tunes are, even though his synths all sound the same, and when I try to introduce my friends some real dubstep tracks I get "This isnt dubstep, and besides it sound like the same thing repeating itself." God it is starting to bother to me. I havent found a single person my age that listens to real dubstep. I really do not want to ramble on so I will get to my point.
- Are there any teens that listen to real dubstep?(Loefah, Mala, Coki, Scuba, Goth Trad)
- Are there any American artists that produce dubstep that does not sound like kittens being grinded up in a blender?
Feel free to tell me your opinions, I want to here what you have to say. Have a nice day... or night.

The thing about America is we simply do not have representation of other dubstep sounds. Sure they're UK producers with UK following but at least you have an alternative over there.
The only events that harness enough support that promoters and venues actually make it happen is the filth. True story, and a sad one. That being said, MALA will be in NEW YORK this month! A rare treat.

Im 16. My taste in dubstep spans every thing from Burial, Ganja White Night, Coki, Benga, and Skream all the way to Excision, Datsik, and Skrillex. I love it all, granted i do tend to gravitate towards the newer "brostep" (god i hate that word) aggressive style, just for preference.

Re: There any "teens" in here that listen to real dubstep?
i just get sick of anything that's lacking diversity. So i'll throw on filth.fm to work out, but by the end of it i'm ready to blow my brains out. then cool down to some more laid back 2step. As far as nights out, there is nothing worse than no variation in a set.
I guess i'm saying i don't tend to gravitate toward any, i'm usually pulled by all sides and thus floating in the center.
i reiterate, the problem in america is there is no flip side to it. filth calls and is answered by more filth. we desperately need more varied night life and i KNOW people would enjoy it, it just doens't have the hype surrounding it.

Re: There any "teens" in here that listen to real dubstep?
I don't think you were understanding my point. I did not make this post to " tell you what real dubstep is" I simple stated what I thought was real dubstep, and asked if any teens listened to it. My main idea was not to force my opinion on anyone. On top of that there was really other word to use. If I had said" Are there any teens that listen to good dubstep?" The whole topic would have changed into defining good dubstep.(Which I did not want this to be about) I am sorry that the word I chose did not fit you.honey-d wrote:Ah another person telling me what is "real" dubstep and what isn't. to be honest mate, round these parts what you're describing as "real" is what most people would describe as "good". no point beating around the bush, filth is shit, deep and heavy is the best. end.of. obviously its not as black and white as that but you get my drift. no need to be diplomatic in here!
last weekend at detonate in notts KM were in stealth room 2 and nero was in the rescue rooms main room, you couldn't even get into the rescue rooms half an hour before nero was on and KM room was half empty (or half full depending on how you look at these things). most of the people in the KM room were DJ's, producers and other assorted nerdy white boys, rude boys and a few gal dem. most 20+. nero was a massive cross section, old ravers, chavs, rude boys, nuff posh uni girls and boys and a few more thrown in for good measure. my point being that... actually, not sure i have a point. just annoyed me that KM were going off, playing loads of dubs, bringing something a bit different and all that and nero's just churning out the same old shit remixes and hype tunes. and FUCKING LOADS OF PEOPLE were eating it up.

sometimes i think i'm in the wrong game...
