TBH 90% of what zomby puts out i always think, ooh he clda done that, or lengthened this or cut that out. Listening to the album i get the feeling that its not a masterpiece and that he cld make an album in that category.

Its part of his appeal i guess...... very similar to wiley in that amongst some frustration, raised eyebrows, you gets moments of genius and its the let downs that are as important as his successes.

Will buy tho defo
hmm i dunno about that bro Zurial likes to keep things underground - he is a curious anomaly on the currently flourishing 'dubstep' scenekeeping his identity secret while others are networking furiously and raking in lots of DJ cash. Rumours abound that he doesn’t even exist, that Burial is actually the alter-ego of an established artist – perhaps Kode9, who runs the Hyperdub label....Who knows - I have inside info but have to keep shut on it

The music on this is of a different character to the dubstep sound currently blasting out from clubs Zombybeats aren’t really aimed at the dancefloor, more for headphones-under-a-hoodie, down in a tube station at midnight – and the headphones need to be decent. Where the best-known dubstep cuts are built on growling, barking basslines, his beats are a more intricate off kilter proposition.

Last years LP flirted with the most 8bit bubble bobble experimental electronica and introduced a new breed of leftfield-loving listener to the overall scene. This much-anticipated follow-up takes an expected / unexpected step sideways and acts as a taster of Zombys recent prolific output. It’s a sort of cold but nice / evil twin to the uplifting, chart-friendly sound that saws loudly at the moment.

The range of beats from house/dnb/grime/slow is present as always often augmented with effected soulful vocals barely intact, but Zomby darkens the mood considerably sometimes burying them deep within layers of rumbling, almost imperceptible bass and horror-soundtrack synth - or alternatively stripping it back to nothing but nuwave reverb.

Wise words from Pretty Purdie...

Zomby clearly knows this too...

'Alothea' is one of the tracks which were supposed to be on the Nonplus 12. Nice. So I guess there will be something I'm waiting for on the album.

Zomby should have done the TRON Legacy score, not Daft Punk. Then I would have watched it.
