I dont care if peeps want dreadlocks, to each their own. However, all of the dreads i know will cover their locks before going out to a club or someplace... dont want them to get all beered, bugged or smokeed up, let alone the energy they are emitting and obsorbing. Get a nice tam and cover your locks, everyone is happier and keeps your locks more pure, seen?

It's called the smell of greasy hair, that IS the energy, but it's true, most REAL Rastas cover their hair as per Biblical instructions, flashing your locks is a big deal and should only really be done occasionally and at home!

I can understand not 'getting it' in a fashion sense, but surely you know the religious meanings ?
Rastafari wear dreads as an expression of inner spirituality. For them, the term "dread" refers to a "fear of the Lord", expressed in part as alienation from the perceived decadence and other evils of contemporary society and a return to the Covenant with the Almighty, Jah Rastafari.

Another interpretation among the Rastafari is that "dread" refers to the fear dreadlocked Mau Mau warriors inspired among the colonial British.

Although Emperor Haile Sellassie I did not wear the locks, dreadlocks on a Rasta's head are symbolic of the Lion of Judah which is sometimes centered on the Ethiopian Flag. Rastas hold that Selassie is a direct descendant of the Israelite Tribe of Judah through the lineage of Kings of Israel David and Solomon, and that he is also the Lion of Judah mentioned in the Book of Revelation.
fairplay.....
but whom can validate their locks with that answer ....???
seriously?

lol... a thread full of dudes watching what other men look like...

as a white with 4 locks down to my knees almost, imo, its pretty much just as valid a question to pose, why DO you cut & comb your hair? lol...

but as a person who doesnt use K and keeps his hair clean, i suppose i dont really belong in this thread to begin with...

one lock is stronger than one strand..

Lol :D

This thread is highly amusing, personally for me dreads are too much of a statement seein as I'm not a Rasta but I think they can look good.

Allow the hatin on peoples style though
Personal preference, just keep it clean.

I also get really pissed at "snail-ravers", those guys who carry their whole home in their bag, and forget they got it on their back when they get stoned..

Worst of all are Dirty-dreads-wearing-bag-high-on-ket-ravers...

Amen. Actually, just cut the fucking dreadlocks off. They always smell. I have never witnessed dreads on someone's hair that smelled even remotely pleasant. Hate dreadlocks!!
