recording DJ sets in ableton live (parts muted!)

Post by sefs » Thu Jun 09, 2011 1:15 pm

Hello everyone,

I've spent time on searching to find a sollution with google.. but it's nowhere to be found. I'm kinda hoping there is anyone on this forum who can help me out with the following problem.

I'm currently working on making 'glitched-up' DJ sets in ableton. Mix songs and then trigger acapella's over them and use glitch plug ins to mess with the acapella's and the songs themselves. My plan is to record them in stages. The first 'stage' i have completed just now. What it basically means is that i have recorded 16 songs (as in mix one song, then mix another song into it, then mix another song into it again when it's done.. you know.. a basic DJ set.. not like 16 tracks in one go) which i have put in session view, to be recorded in arrangement view as a 60 minute long mix. Now i have recorded using automation (i assigned the EQ Three to a slider on my mpd 24 for both tracks in which i recorded the 16 songs).

Now when i press the 'back to arrangement' button the songs on one of the two tracks are muted (but not muted/deactivated in ableton, they play but they just don't give sound), the same goes for the first few songs on the second track. When i disable all automation it does play all of the songs. Now the obvious guess would be that i've somehow managed to automate some sort of proces of muting the songs at certain positions in this mix. But i haven't! What i did do though was change the volume levels of the clips individually after i recorded them. But i kinda think that should not be the problem right?

I hope someone here knows what i am dealing with, since i can't wrap my head around it and it really, but then really frustrates me! It kinda feels to me like ableton can't copy with the different settings of automation that i've used (but then again.. it wasn't that special.. i mean an average created track in ableton should use so much more than i just used..)

If anyone could help me out it would be really apreciated!

Greetings,

sefs.
