Have to agree with everyone that this sound fucking huge. Heres the obligatory evil looking devil face to signifie how with it i am
and heres another cos-im-so-fucking-next-level
Anywho, i wondered whether or not it would be a matter of time for the rest of the tech freak crew to get in on dubstep after i heard mc jakes was part of H.E.N.C.H, but i doubted it. Im very very very glad to be proven totaly wrong.
I feel tech itch reached a brilliant peak with his tunes around the time of "pressure drop". That tune mixes bloodclot-break-mashup with a proper groovy bassline, gets the feet moving while still being sinister and moody. Bit like a very forward thinking genre of music that has a similarly named night i know....
After that though, maby (although i know people will disagree with this) just maby he started getting abit too dark, and ended up, as that Ben Blah UFO dude said, just sounding angry.
I think the whole darkside drum and bass thing can get abit formulaic at times as well, when it just ends up being noisy with no real groove. People like limewax and gein keep the game up though, but even then i dont know if neither them nor the big guns like dylan or b-key could drop a whole album and have it sonically diverse past two or three tracks. (and for the record paul blackout is naff speed metal with nicked dnb breaks, Enduser shits on him from a a great height).
Still, neutral like switzerland to both arguements i may be, i still reckon tech itch is the daddy and will be locked on with baited ears.

Silence is more audible than sound
Am I the only one underwhelmed by Tech Itch's entry into dubstep? I mean, the guy's a master, and was my hero for years, and I own more of his records than from any other single person.
But... meh
Implant sounds pretty good and all, but it just doesn't impress me as much as I thought it would.
Okay, I'll shut up now til I produce something better, lol

ill honest, i do like tech itch as producer. mans got some beasty tunes, but his dubstep lacks somethin in some records.
altho best dnb producer doin dubstep atm has to be twisted individual(bogeyman).
myspaced him the other day and told him to stop wastin his time with dnb and come to the darkside lol

really shocked that ppl dont rate is dubstep productions that much, they are some of the best tunes to come out of this genre imo

i think the issue people take (certainly I do) is that he's brought a lot of his dnb production techniques over, particularly the fad nowadays for massively limited, completely dynamic-free, wall-of-noise stylings and heavy heavy distortion. That was never what dubstep was about before, so to a lot of fans it just doesn't make any sense - I get the feeling that TI just heard a few tunes and has slowed his bpm down to 140 without actually listening to how the music works.rekorder wrote:really shocked that ppl dont rate is dubstep productions that much, they are some of the best tunes to come out of this genre imo
understand what ur sayin but this genre is still wide open in my opinion, i dont think he should have to change what he does to fit in the sorts of sounds that are getting played atm. why cant he bring his style to the plate?ThinKing wrote:i think the issue people take (certainly I do) is that he's brought a lot of his dnb production techniques over, particularly the fad nowadays for massively limited, completely dynamic-free, wall-of-noise stylings and heavy heavy distortion. I don't think that's fair- none of the Ascension releases are massive choppage affairs like the majority of his D&B, they're spartan but welcome-programmed industrial beats that as already mentioned, share the same realm as Vex'd. That said, I could see how they would not appeal to the half-step massive.ThinKing wrote:i think the issue people take (certainly I do) is that he's brought a lot of his dnb production techniques over, particularly the fad nowadays for massively limited, completely dynamic-free, wall-of-noise stylings and heavy heavy distortion. d.appleseed- EverGreen (November 2009) Techno-Tribal-Progressive-Dubstep mix (41.25MB, 30mins @ 128Kbps)
Fucks sake let the man make music. It's not like he's dominating the sound or anything
Diversity is the spice of life, bring all styles in tocreate more interesting and innovating music. DnB has a lot to offer dubstep, well at least a bit.
