Hey guys, so im coming to you all on a choice that i am kind astuck between at the moment. I am purchasing myself some new speakers and seeing as though i have never really had professional studio monitors I need yourr hellp!!! My descision is between a pair of Yamahas HS50M
http://www.long-mcquade.com/products/68 ... onitor.htm and a pair of KRK RP5 G2s
http://www.long-mcquade.com/products/30 ... onitor.htm
I will be producing with these and mixing with them so im kinda stuck in the middle there because i heard that yamahas were better for producing while krks are better for mixing.
Pumping through these speakers will mostly be dubstep, glitch hop, dnb and electro house so lots of bass
Give me your advice friends!!
thanks!!

I would go with the Yamaha's but don't trust me I've never had monitors either.
I would rather have the Yamaha HS80M than either of these, though.

i recently was in this dilemma and went with the fostex pm1 mk2's which i found for $330 shipped. there kind of the best of both worlds. more flat than the krk's but they have a 6.5" woofer so they will be better for mixing than the yamahas. im really lovin my fostex

Personally, I think your best bet would be listening to them both first, and deciding which ones you think are better

wait till you get more money.
i have the hs80s. tried the krks.. didnt cut it for me.
but you should try. if you buy them at a guitar center,d ont be afraid to pick one, try it, and ask for exchange... if it doesnt work.
there's plenty of stuff about both, the hs80 were better in my environment.
im upgrading tho... and i'll be treating my room as soon as i get a room

also keep in mind that if you test out some monitors at a local shop, they will sound a bit different once there in your room. but it still should give you an idea...

the HS50s have a much better mid range response than the krks, plus rockets are known for their muddy bass response.
if you can afford HS80s then definitely do it, got clarity and a good solid bass
