I'm trying to get the pitch-rising effect in this video right before the drop.

comes in about 0:41
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9iwzYf9C7s

My knowledge is limited, but I would have put an env on the pitch and then just put individual notes on the piano roll.
Is there a simpler way to do this? That seems like it's too complicated.

Draw note > Pitch wheel +12 > draw higher note > pitch wheel +12 > draw higher note > pitch wheel +12

Basically, but something funny goes on with the waveform as well, try using a saw/square wavetable osc and modulate it (slowly)

very simple. you can use a long upward ramp attack on the pitch.
you can also use portamento set to a very slow speed.
in FL, you can use the "slide" blocks in the piano roll to slide a note from one pitch to another over a specified amount of time.
...in my opinion

If you're referring to a pitch wheel on a keyboard I do not have one. :P Also, I didn't realize the change in waveform. I'll check that out.

Thanks man. I'll try to figure that out. ;) How do you open the "slide" blocks in the piano roll?

I hear that, but honestly I'm not entirely sure what sidechaining is or how to do it. I've messed around with the sidechaining technique in Massive a bit. Is there a topic or something you know of that could point me in the right direction?

Side chain compression is basically using say a kick drum to trigger a compressor to reduce the gain of another signal. i.e. set the side chain input of a compressor to receive the signal of your kick channel and then every time your kick hits the compressor will reduce the level of your bass (or what ever instrument you have the compressor on) and allow the kick drum to hit through in the mix.

Audio chop and rearrangement?

Post by monkfish » Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:42 pm

How do I go about achieving such distorted, chopped audio I hear a lot in Skrillex remixes?

Stuff like: 3:25 - 3:31

I know he uses Ableton, so does he slice as a midi? I don't have my production laptop, so I can't test it :<

Yeah grab the vocal then cut up your favorite parts or sections you want to incorporate...
Crop them, then transpose them, reverse them, whatever you want :)
The limitations are endless :W:

Oh my god man. I need some serious help. I wanna recreate the wobble at precisely 0:28.

I just can't get that fat bitcrushed wobble for some reason. I've tried a bunch and they don't seem bassy enough. I'd be willing to share the massive patch if anyone can help me figure out this cluster FUCK.
