no offense but the conspiracy stuff seems a lot like stoned 'enlightened' ranting; in theory it can happen, anything can happen, but its probably not.
http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.p ... 42&start=0 watch the video in this - there are millions of people running all kinds of shit that contribute to this overall narrative that you connect the dots of to create the idea of a conspiracy, but none of them are in on it. They are all just people, doing shit cos people need to do shit to get by. Life is just a byproduct of loads of people living.
I really thought I made it clear but I'll say it.
Me and my friends celebrated our last day of school by getting stoned.
There?
Happy?
Sooth your mind?
;-) i did get it yes
we've all had those 'evenings'
my mind was always at rest thanks, i was just trying to have a discussion
Okay, I was just clarifying, I feel for the sake of the conversation flowing in terms of mutual understanding, It needed to be put out :cornlol:
haha no i got it, you hinted even harder at knell too. i didnt mean to rail against your idea quite so much but i just find conspiracy theory type stuff sits very uneasily with me. it just seems a lot like religion, in that there is an overarcing concept or narrative that seems difficult to grasp as being just the way it is, so people try and pin responsibility down on someone or some group. so in the same way people put the creation of life down to a god, so people (as you suggest in this instance) put the power of media culture down to some creators, whereas actually it is simply an evolution of one particular aspect of life, shaped by everyone that lives, lived, experiences and experienced it. if you see what i mean?
I think I see where you're going with that. Though with the religion thing, unless they can get evidence other than some old, and quite possibly a story, book, it's really not worth consideration :a:
Where I'm going with this, is that, though yeah, it is unlikely and hard to perceive, it doesn't seem like the kind of thing you can zero out. For me, there's always that lingering "what if". That's the kind of thing that mindfucks me

Part of the idea was to spark up new points. Anyone else got some laughable stoner quotes?

Just like to point out that I was watching the nba finals with my 6yo daughter, when a commercial came on, showed mostly naked people engaging in sex then in the middle of it a duffel bag was thrown on the floor with three severed heads looking out in horror through some type of plastic. Pretty clear who HW serves.

That sounds exactly like religion.

I'm under the impression that in the states, this is just standard television marketing?

don't know if it's already been said but i think the idea behind having so many people on television that are so easy to hate and judge makes the viewers over time start to believe everyone is as hateful and judgemental as they are, leading to a general state of fear and an inability to interact with fellow humans

Especially the one who dressed like a girl.

With celebrity comes a lot of power and interest and some of the stuff some of these people are capable of is infact scary and unbelievable.

If you take Arnold Schwarzenegger as an example, there's a whole lot of agenda going in different directions and a whole lot of backstory that he has had to cover up. Like izan ancestry or the kid he got with his housekeeper that he lived with in the same house as his family.
There's the fact that he's republican yet married into the Kennedy family. Has a shitload of money but nothing compared to his wifes' family. So how does he decide which way to go politically- is it his agenda? I think in the case of Arnold- he might be capable of maintaining this situation on his own because he is the terminator. But it stands to reason that others with interests has helped him cover up.
There's no doubt that celebrities get more leeve than political figures in the press and that its more accepted to let them off .

OP, if you want to see how superficial the world is, watch the 5 part series of "The century of self" by the BBC on Edward Bernays...it's basically Bill Hicks worst nightmare, and although the shows are quite long, it basically looks at the origins of things such as fashion and the celebrity.

I tend to agree with the Bernays way of thinking, that it's all profit driven and there's no culture industry-esque conspiracy. But nonetheless the outcome is very similar; banal media with banal celebrities.

Take the 'TOWIE' lot for example...by now they'll all be millionaires, they're on TV a lot and generally have a fair amount of fame. TOWIE is a great example of how celebrities are to a degree 'picked', i.e. they will get big paper coverage by having agents such as Max Clifford who make sure his clients get in the paper. In that respect, 'fame' is all one big scam. It's talentless people, paying PR men to pay media companies to advertise for the talentless people, and the cycle goes on.

So in that respect, celebrities can be 'fake' and be placed in certain scenarios, but I don't think it's a conspiracy; I think it's more how an industry has slowly bastardised itself and is now a pretty horrible beast.
