we also invented god
[which is, by definition, beyond our understanding]
EDIT: We also never invented sound, without which there would be no music at all. Definitely beyond our comprehension.

sound is one of the most complex things in the world, we will never truly understand it.. we make predictions on frequencies and levels but maybe were missing something... hmm makes ya think

The "any sound that's in your head" kind of deal, is a bit over rated, I think. Most of the sounds in your head, you've already heard before somewhere. If you just let yourself be creative, and not worry about a certain sound, you may just come up with something WAY cooler!

I would say music theory wise, if you learn it enough and develop an ear for it, you know, creating the melodies you come up with and all that (if you can remember them :/), yes 99%, except for occasionally complex chord progressions. For me at least. Not to sound like I'm bragging or anything but I think most artists that know there music theory it becomes second nature. And production and synthesis wise, not for me, but I've been producing for about 4 years, which isn't much in the grand scheme of things, and I've just recently been getting into that. But I will echo what others have said. I learn something new in some way, shape, or form, in any song i do.

Okay this part is a total crock though.
'We make predictions on frequencies'
No we dont. You load a 40hz sine wave up and play it, its going to cycle 40 times a second. Frequency just means how frequently do things cycle.
The whole music extends beyond the realm of theory part of what nowaysj said, totally true, theory fails to explain alot. But Fuzion... you need to read more about the science of sound, I fear you dont even know what frequency means.

Let`s not start this debate.
We invented Language, we invented the word God.
We invented God, period.

on-topic though,
I think this drive to create every sound you hear can be incredibly limiting to the actual process of producing music.
The music is key.
You can make a mish-mash of synthesized sound that is an exact replica of another sound you`ve heard but are you actually using any of the resulting sounds in the context of a song?
If you are then more power to you but if you`re spending months creating sounds over actually writing music, you`ll find yourself stuck in a production mode that you might not be able to get out of.
You need to find balance between the 2.
Create the sound and immediately try to use it or a similar sound in the context of a track or loop.
Keep creating music and you`ll progress faster musically imo.

What you're hearing in your head is probably a subconscious pattern that already exists. Just experiment a little and see if you can make something fantastic a long the way.
Once you get music theory down -- Chord, Scales, Intervals -- you'll grasp a better understand of how producers piece their music together.

to me the sounds that anyone create are as real as organic sounds found in nature... they exist. period.
now lets make some beats.

I think my problem is I can't get great sounds. the problem I feel is either arrnging baselines to be rhymetic or fucking being to generic. but overall back on topic you never stop learning ever. one day you'll think you have it and bam new techniques and ideas appear

last I checked, this aint a problem
Your problem is getting your tunes to have melody. which isn't necessary for your style, though.
