Do you ever just look at a waveform and think, fuck, I don't even wanna listen to this.

If I can tell that it's just some generic 32 bar intro into a verse and then a generic 16 bar breakdown then yeah, I'm like fuck that.

Yep, sometimes I even look at my own waveforms and think: WHAT HAVE I DONE!! Back to Reason!

i don't to be honest. i at least give it a listen, then judge. even the most generic structures can still be good so why not??

Usually I only look at how much it looks like an erection / turd.

Gotta be careful what you put in your ears these days.

All the time. First thing I do in any thread on DSF is judge the waveforms out of 10 to see if there's anything worth listening to. 8s and higher get a listen.

Comfistyle's is actually the most appealing in this thread imo. Looks like an intro, drop, variation on the drop, breakdown, drop ii. And it looks like it's got some nice dynamic range and a good sense of space. Hasn't scored full points, as I'm not keen on that structure and the end looks like a big reverb tail rather than an outro; but it's sitting on a 7/10.

I'll take that as a complment, and pray that you don't listen to it :)

Once again Comfi, you've made me lol with your thread title/post. I've often done the same exact thing, but then give it a listen anyway for thinking myself too pretentious. Most often I should've just stuck with my instinct.

I do judge by the waveform, but then i realize that if i didnt listen to a song because of a bad waveform i would never listen to skrillex. seriously that shits intimidating

At least 20-30 times a day. Often it'll either be a SOLID WALL OF SOUND that screams brickwalling at me, or else the structure of the opening drums will look pretty sparse for the first third, or else the tune after the drop will be identical to the middle eighth etc etc.

But I still listen anyway. You never know 8)

. Its DJ ammunition. It could be the illest 32 bar intro ever created, followed by the biggest groove you've ever heard. But in a generic arrangement. which is often a good thing for dance music
