idk why people go so insane trying to make the drop powerful or whatever, for brostep, if your downbeat wobble is good, then your drop will be good, all these big songs, theres usually very little change from the intro to the drop drumwise, maybe the hihats kick in and thats it, imo its all about your downbeat wobble, eg: scary monsters & NS, When i look at you, Wibbler (skream), smack your bitch up (benga), no big crashes or big bass drops, just the big downbeat wobble and sub bass are introduced, one of my practices is to keep the deep sub bass out of the intro and bring it in at the drop

I dropped drops in 2008, it's all about 3minute intros with an outro immediately after.

Lol this thread.

At no point did that track stop sounding like something they'd vomit on Yo Gabba Gabba.

Depends... the bit from 00:18 to 01:00 in the OP would make a fine Super Mario Bros menu interface tune I reckon.

Loving what you said mate... :Q:
I'm only concerned about mudding up the track..
I made my drums more powerful atm The Kick is peaking at -10.5dB at 62Hz
and my sub is at -19.0dB at 63Hz
Will those playing together try to fight around those freq?
(Sorry I'm still learning frequencies and such :6: )
sidechain your kick to your sub bass, isnt it barely audible at -19db? i say fuck db's use your ears lol.

besides the masters db output of course, i can care less what my individuals are hitting at though, as long as i have plenty of headroom on the master and it sounds good im happy,

a tip i like to use, maybe your kick is real thumpy and your thinking sudechaining it will take to much away from the sub bass...

get like a quick shaker sound or a rimshot sound, copy your kick pattern to the new rimshot or shaker sound, and sidechain that to your sub bass,

your sub bass will cut out at the same times as your kick, but wont take to much away from the sidechaining

if your kick is peaking at 60hz it's not going to have punch - that's what is perceived as sub bass (and will get over-powered by your ACTUAL sub bass). you want it peaking 80-100hz (save 70hz and below for sub), and if it's still not punchy enough, layer 2 or 3 more kicks on top - then use parallel compression.

yeah i dont really get why people are on about it either, if your main section is killer then the drop should be good, unless you have most of that stuff during the intro too, then obviously it wont hit. i kind of noticed aswell like alot of people are asking like how to get a good drop, and have like bass and loads of stuff building up to the drop, but no one seems to think that maybe having a bit of nothing, a bit of breathing space may make the drop hit a bit harder. if you listen to alot of big tunes, they may have things building up to the drop, like a riser, increasing kick drums etc. but then they drop out just before the drop, leaving a nice gap, and leaving the volume to drop right down before slamming a fat sub in your face. if those increasing kicks just go right up to the drop point though, you dont get any relief before it.

The chords at the start and the strong synth line at 1:22 are good Chad btw... The drums and the rest isn't.

Make sure something is finished before you try and get some positive feedback

a second or two of silence or minimal sound, can help make a drop more powerful imo :)
