Ableton Constant Freezing

So I'm using Ableton Live 8, and it keeps freezing and closing down all the time. Sounds keep skipping and some patches can barely be troubled to make a noise. I've done literally every conceivable measure to ensure my PC is operating at prime performance levels. The CPU meter in Ableton flies up anywhere between the 30-50 percent range as soon as i hit play, or try to load a VST (trying to load VSTs or work with them in any way is a guaranteed freeze-and-crash)... This has all started in the last 24 hours, and I wasn't having ANYTHING like this prior.

Anyone else ever had this problem? Tried reinstalling; no dice.
Any fresh suggestions would be appreciated. This predicament is giving me creative constipation.

if you cant figure out the cause, a system restore might solve the problem... send it back 2-3 days and see if the problem is gone.

same thing happened to me. got so bad that I spunked a grand on a mac. problem solved

whats your system specs?

have you made any changes recently, like installing more vst's or updates?

have you checked your drivers are up to date?

has it ever crash on mac though?

Yeah I'll probably be buying a mac in the near future. SOME new computer by September, anyhow
