Re: dark dubstep
I`d say i`m producing dark music.
Broody, dark, melancholic.
Take a listen to the Wip in my sig.
I`m always up for a production chat.
Not on AIM though.

recently have had to reformat my entire hard drive with no backups whatsoever.
have started a fresh, and for the last 6 projects,(in about 5 days) i've been really focused on creating this 'dungeon' sound

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.
Re: dark dubstep
Have been busy with making nice 'dungeon' sounds for the last 6 months or so.
Not on AIM though, but I love topics where dungeon producers come together and talk about random things:D

Re: dark dubstep
kryptic minds = jelly
they have amazing hit hat work going on in a lot of their songs. sounds like sex to my ears. also i love how a lot of the time they dont use snares. they use "knocks" or "wood block" type samples. just a reminder you dont need a big banging snare to sound good.

Agree 1000000% on the snare. I dont get why so many people think that a dubstep track has to have a huge white noise snare........Big Freq wrote:kryptic minds = jelly

It all depends on the kind of dubstep.JFK wrote: Agree 1000000% on the snare. I dont get why so many people think that a dubstep track has to have a huge white noise snare........
I can't imagine a proper HENCH track without a fat snare, but rimshots seem to fit KM tracks more

Hey, I've just started dabbling in this sound and am having some trouble with it. Was wondering if you all had any tips on the deep metallic bass lines used by Kryptic Minds and the like.

Re: dark dubstep
Lots of layers of using EQ to make different parts of the sound come through, Reverb again EQed to make certain parts come through i like hi and mid reverb i think it gives it the metal/tinny sound you are looking for.nowhere wrote:Hey, I've just started dabbling in this sound and am having some trouble with it.
