gypsy-step, whats up with that?

Post by bluntiot » Sat Jun 18, 2011 1:00 pm

I don't know what to really call it but ive heard a few tracks at shows that sounded like armenian music or somthing and I thought it had a pretty cool vibe and i just wanted to know some other tracks in that vein, a la 16 bit- in the death car (quickest example that came to mind)

Beats Antique are definitely worth checking out. I saw them at a festival a couple weeks ago without knowing much about them, and they played one of the better sets of the weekend. They aren't what I typically listen too, but they have some interesting tracks and play a good live show

There was a mad tune by Stenchman, which features heavily a gipsy beat. Worked also quite well to non-dubstep audiences:

Tomity put that Stenchman track up about seven posts back but sometimes youtube doesn't display the video titles before you click.

The hook is also used here in Wilmot by the Sabres of Paradise:

But it's actually from Trinidad about 80 odd years ago!

Wow, another one. Is Stenchman a gypsy or something? Shouldn't really be labeling his womenfolk as tarts' if he's making a living from their music.

Also, none of those blow up girls on the vid are gypsies. I'd be able to read the letters on their arses if they were. They do look like tarts, though.

just stupid fucking warehouse floor surfing hippies.

i don't mind genre clashing, but this is just weak.

i'm a fan of romanian/armenian music to a certain extent, but come on, really?
