Re: How do i make this?
sounds like a bunch of messy, phasing sines to me. maybe even a little distortion on the sub

Im a little new to producing, what do you mean phasing?jrisreal wrote:sounds like a bunch of messy, phasing sines to me. maybe even a little distortion on the sub
Re: How do i make this?
If you have a synth that has 2 or more oscillators, and can fine tune them, you can creating a phasing effect.
Just take two oscillators, make them play the same note, and fine tune them apart by like 1-20 cents. This makes it go in and out and all swishy sounding.

Re: How do i make this?
when oscillators play at different, conflicting frequencies and theres kindof an LFO effect in which the sounds cancel eachother out. This sounds like maybe 3 or 4 phasing oscillatorsForeplay wrote:Im a little new to producing, what do you mean phasing?jrisreal wrote:sounds like a bunch of messy, phasing sines to me. maybe even a little distortion on the sub

Joy O - Sicko Cell
Hi, I'm quite interested in dissecting the sounds of this song, so was wondering if anyone knows how to make the panning background synth around 1:44 and the lead that comes 1:52 + the classic Joy O pads at 4:18.
Thanks!

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
here's an array of sounds i would love to know more about.
my head keeps saying "granular synthesis".. but my ears know nothing about that granular synthesis shit.. it is just something i used to fuck with in fl when i was 14 and i know how it theoretically works.. but i wouldnt be able to predict its behaviour or know how to tweak a granular synth...
maybe they dont have anything to do with granular synthesis but here's the sounds :
im particularly intrigued by the riser, that comes up when it says "cuz im a balla my money u cant match it up"... right before the drop... there's a very grainy bass that starts and speeds up... i suspect its a sample from the lead part pitched down and then repitched up but it doesnt sound like that when i try to do it...
similar hollow and very dry sounds are there in the very classic tune
i have very little comprehension of such sounds.. and very little knowledge of the tools i should use under logic 9 to achieve this.
thx

Re: How to create this riser ?
Believe me when I say I'm right there with you wanting to know how to get this sound. But I Know he used massive to make it and it could defenitly be saw waves. Keep in mind that while you spent all day trying to make this, Jon (spor, feed me) has been creating reeses for years as a drum and bass producer. Just try and dissect the sound. There's obviously a low pass filter towards the beginning of the patch, as the pitch is slowly raised, so is the cutoff frequency of the Low pass filter. it's defenitly been soaked in reverb (with some modulation on the dry/wet function) and there sounds like there's some delay too. As the pitch rises, so does the amount of vibrato. There's defenitly a good deal of saturation on it and some exciter distortion to add some higher harmonics. And as the cutoff of the LPF goes up, so does its resonance (or so it sounds to me). And there's defenitly some chorus on that (especially in the beginning of each patch) and probably some phasing as well. This is what I can gather (and who knows if I'm right) from that sound.Dead0k wrote:
Here at 1:09 to 1:12, also 1:44 to 1:46, also 3:33 to 3:36 ... such a reece mid bassline going up.. or so.
Spent a half day and no resultpls help
PS: also maybe some tips about these 2 notes saw dirty bass at 3:51 , 4:03 , 4:10 ... because it is too nasty for even distorted saw wave. #also tried itthe rest of the day
#feed me - strange behaviour
I used a "similar" sound in one of my tracks.Soundcloud
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that the reese I made even compares to his, but I feel like if you were to take a reese like the one that I made in that song, and slowly add the above effects, you could get something comparable. If you are interested I would be more than happy to send you the patch (I made it in Reason 5's Thor synth), but I will tell you that the sound I made I resampled many many times.

If you don't mind, I would like to know how you made that snare. (If you made it)
But without the whitenoise going up.

I did not make it, it's from one of the vengeance club essentials packs, but if you give me your email I would be more than happy to send you the sample I used ( post effects).blinkesko wrote:Soundcloud

Ahhh what a dunce I am. I did sort of recognise the Hip-Hop sampling feel to it but couldn't quite pinpoint, and I thought it'd have been easy enough to synthesize anyway so wasn't direct sampling. I like that sound a lot though, simplistic but still a lot of character to it.

You have a habit of making simple shit sound hard as fuck to noobsjrisreal wrote:when oscillators play at different, conflicting frequencies and theres kindof an LFO effect in which the sounds cancel eachother out. Stereo detuning. Easily done in massive or 3xOsc

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
This is completely relevant to my interests. I've done some searching and I can't find anything on how to make this 'whistle'-like sound. When used in the correct moderation it seems to create super-catchy dub riffs and I would like to have that spice in my arsenal, so here's a second request for this to hopefully give it some notice :lHoloGraham wrote:I know another Skrillex sound. But this is a Bare Noize sound really. So I'm way new to dubstep, but not new to making music on Ableton. So I'm using Ableton and I have Massive, and I'm trying to recreate this sound but I can't. It's that high pitched sound in Bare Noize's remix of Kill Everybody. It's the first note of the drop. Is it two synths? A bass and a scream? Is it just a scream filter on a bass? Is it something completely different? Anyway here it is. The sound is at about 0:55 - 0:56 and continues thoughout.
P.S. Somehow I managed to make something vaaaaguely similar, not close enough at all to be a replica but might put somebody on the right track. I used x3 Osc and overall it sounds akin to Doctor P's Sweet Shop drop that is so widely known. If anybody wants a screen of the settings for Osc that I used I can post them. It's not super punchy or powerful but it has a general sound that's similar
Question about this wobble
Ok, so I was listening to this song and I was wondering what exactly is going on at 0:18 modulation wise. That wobblesque sound. I tried to comine a few different versions of the same wobble, with the lfos on the cutoffs going at different rates, buuuut it sounds too choppy. Nothing smooth whatsoever. Heeeeelp.
Prepare your anus.
How to make the garagey piano sound?
Iv been making a bit of garage and im wondering how i can make that piano style stab in most garage tunes, for example;
the sound that comes in at 0.21?
iv looked through some preset patches and had a go at synthesizing it but had no luck either way.
cheers
