Studio Subs
Just curious... What do you guys use for subs in the studio?
Re: Studio Subs
Right now, I don't. My MS-40s are sufficient, though I am looking to upgrade my sound setup in the next few months, new interface etc, so a sub will probably be on the list then.

Re: Studio Subs
At the moment I just use my Rokit 8s, plenty of bass to be going on with. If I had a sub I'd be worried about mixing the bass inaccurately. Though If I had smaller monitors, maybe 4 or 5 inch, I'd go for one.

from my experience, usually Genelec or Focal subs. Often no sub at all.RandoRando wrote:I've always wondered what kind Of subs they use in the big studios with the big ssl's

I've got a Future Music article somewhere about Ginz' studio, will try and dig it out.

Re: Studio Subs
This, usually the actual reference monitors in a studio are simple and to the point, when you do find a sub being used for composition, chances are, its whatever the company recommends be paired with the nearfields...3rdeye wrote:from my experience, usually Genelec or Focal subs. notable though, mastering engineers and high-end studio's often keep extra systems to check how things translate on... Vh1's little tour of Death Row mentioned the last thing they do with a track is check it on a car system and a hifi they have in-house.

Re: Studio Subs
Use a Tapco sub (made by Mackie) with my Mackie HR264s. Excellent value for money, discontinued now. Can find them for about 200 barons
