If I was a burglar I'd just break into people's houses shouting "I AM A CONCERNED NEIGHBOUR WHO HAS REASON TO BELIEVE YOU HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAVE THUS FORCEFULLY ENTERED YOUR HOME IN ORDER TO CONFIRM THIS. I MEAN YOU NO HARM!"

I did actually open the door in my pants holding a kitchen knife not so long ago.
Someone rang the door bell at 3am and I got all paranoid.

I used to keep a hammer next to the front door during my 2nd year as a result of living in a less than desirable neighbourhood.
In hindsight, pretty silly thing to do.

Recently, I keep a wooden training sword next to the bed that I fully intend swing into the skull of any person creeping around my flat at night.
This is sometimes my girlfriend coming home from work, but I'm fully prepared to take the risk.

Eskrima sticks? I'd be surprised if you got done for using them if stabbing people is supposedly legal.wolf89 wrote:I have these near my bed

Funny how they're not bothering to look in to the causes of burglary, this is just a populist measure that won't do anything to lower the crime rate

Justice Secretary Ken Clarke has said a householder who knifes a burglar will not have committed a criminal offence under plans to clarify the law on self-defence in England.
He told the BBC people were entitled to use "whatever force necessary" to protect themselves and their homes.
David Cameron recently said the issue should be put "beyond doubt".![]()

Does this mean I've got carte blanche to knife anyone who turns up at my house that I don't like under the defence of "I thought he was a burglar"?
Can't really see any problem with that to be honest. maybe i am becoming a daily mail reader after all.
Re: Stabbing burglars 'will be legal'
Well its not really about lowering the crime rate is it, it's about being able to defend yourself without going to prison.test recordings wrote:Eskrima sticks? I'd be surprised if you got done for using them if stabbing people is supposedly legal.wolf89 wrote:I have these near my bed

It'd help to get the crime rate lower as well though I do agree to this being implementedfuagofire wrote:Well its not really about lowering the crime rate is it, it's about being able to defend yourself without going to prison.test recordings wrote:Eskrima sticks? Reach and poor? I think the UK is a fair way off from replicating disparate America's social strata though...ahier wrote:wow what with the increasing disparity between reach and poor (and the swelling of the poor), the reduction of the state and now this, we are a few stars and stripes away from becoming america v.2
