Reaktor...vs .....Me....come on then sucka!

I primarily use logic and live 6 plus other usual suspects, but i recently got reaktor 5 (i think) and by far is the most arkward to figure out!...I opened it up thought about reading the manual but then had a toke and seemed to subconciously open up logic and make some more phat beats in that instead.I am sure logic is the one for me but it doesnt hurt to experiment with new applications does it.

Is it even any good?......better then logic? i doubt it but then again i can't do shit with it........lol

As most will know logic 7 has it pretty much covered but i want to know if there is anything that reaktor is super duperly ace for? or just another host without the most.

As a normal man i don't like to read the destruction manual, ha ha ha.

There's no point in comparing logic with reaktor since logic is a daw/sequencer and reaktor is a modular synth enviroment. I would say that that reaktor is your ideal program if you are interested in building your own effects and synths since reaktor is a much easier way than synth maker or max/msp.

If you are keen on using reaktor you should either start with reading a bit about modular synthesis and checking the factory presets' build up. Reaktor really is an amazing tool but i think that you can use the time you spend fiddling with reaktor with some more useful stuff, like more advanced processing eq-ing whatever.
Or you can also use just the factory presets and additional user libraries without modifying anything, as if they were just simple vst plug-ins.

The penny has dropped. I feel like a fool. I should have probably looked at it again without embarrising myself here first!!!

But....... for making your own fx would it be better than something like...lets say the sound guy AU in which you can make your own effect/insert/pluggin?

I just only meant that for me reaktor is a waste of time since university and girlfriend and friends consume a lot of time and i really have to be time efficient with music production, so I rather study mixing/mastering and stick to easier fx and synths where i just need to tweak some knobs:D

I didnt say that there's any eqing you cant do in logic I wanted to say that you should decide whether it is profitable for you to start learning reaktor or you should first become an expert in the basics for example eqing. Sorry if I was ambigous my English is not perfect:P

i use reaktor a LOT. i really love it! it is quite a beast tho, and other than making my own simple little synths, i havent really dug that deeply into its capabilities. one of these days tho, im gonna take a good couple of months off music to work on it... one of these days.

its not a sequencer, its not a DAW. its a robot, its a monster, its a beast, its a giant fire-breathing volkswagon with butterfly wings that speaks esperanto. its whatever you want it to be (as long as you dont want FFTs )

I used to use Reaktor alot, but don't really like it. It's too fiddly to actually get anything done musically (e.g hours pass by playing around ), and it has a very specific characteristic sound to it somehow.

I get alot more fun out of Bidule these days, and find that being able to include VSTs in patches a real timesaver. No need to reinvent a filtered delay when there's plenty of solutions. Also, the control options (MIDI, USB HID) are awesome.

Well worth the $75.

Come to think of it though, Reaktor running inside Bidule would probably make for fun times.
