Sounds more dubstep to me than Skrillex does. I mean that is what dubstep should be.
My new EP "Slow Motion" is now avaible on Virtualgroov!

You seem to automatically assume we will be making a substantial profit. The capacity is capped at under 3000 and if you believe the line-up was cheap, then you're mistaken.

Venue, security, promotion and many other things are also a large cost, so please don't think profit is our main goal. :)

As we keep saying and will continue to say, our main goal and focus is celebrating the genre.

Thats great to hear, maybe you should donate all or a portion of profits to a charity? Just so people would know you weren't full of shit.

Haha no, there are already underrated and fantastic producers that actually deserve to win certain categories. That would make me feel like a tnuc :W:

i didnt realise it was £30 to get in... to the people who run it saying that you dont see a lineup like that for any less, virtually every fabriclive has that kind of quality (subjective to your own genre) for half the price

that reminds me of shackleton interview in which he speaks about how he was booked for a dubstep night, which actually was a brostep night, ergo full of those kids booing him from the stage.

This.

Plus please could you specify how the voting is set up? Will you be able to vote for ANY artist under a category, or will you supply a shortlist to pick from? If so how have you arrived at these shortlists?

If you write your answer as oppose to selecting an option will you still count spelling mistakes etc?

How are you preventing multiple votes from the same voter?

What are your criteria for 'dubstep' as a genre? Do you consider some material under labels such as swamp 81/hessle/deep medi as dubstep, artists such as ramadanman etc etc? Where are you drawing the line to what is eligible or not? People would not like to see votes discounted due to not fitting your criteria?

Man, it's just the kids who wanna have their fun. The most of the kids, dont even know that they dont listen to dupstep. It all reminds me of the big old rap-sellout, it's the same kinda shit like all that Gangsta rap cack. Sometimes a complete sellout of a genre is unavoidable and we should learn to get on with that. I dont know any reason why we should bother about that brostep producers wanna call their shit "dubstep". I also think it makes "real dubstep" (old-school, eclectic dupstep) more popular. Sure, our name as a culture is exploited, but why should we take it so serious and react with a victim mentality, even if it makes us cool (snobs).

obviously some of the biggest names in the history of the genre have no objection to this event.... if you have a problem with the event how do you justify the presence of such artists? just doing it for the money? Or perhaps this is just an excuse to throw a big even and have a good time and maybe if you're evaluating it past that you're doing it wrong?

relax guys

dubstepmusicawards wrote:Hi!

Many thanks for stopping by the thread and giving us your feedback.

Firstly, Flux and Doctor P aren't headlining. Pretty much every person on the line-up could be classed as a headliner. No one will be happy whoever is first on the list. There isn't a 'headliner' as such on this event! - We aren't biased.

Secondly, The flyer you see is a pre-flyer and is in no way the proper flyer. The proper flyer (physical flyer) will be out in about 2 weeks and EVERY name features a slot on the flyer, in a clear and visible location. The pre-flyer can't hold many names, unless you wanted to make the names so small you couldn't see them. Again, Flux was the person who was on the list and happened to fall at the top. This isn't our personal opinion of the artists nor the order we'd necessarily put them in.

Finally, some comments have been removed yes. These we're removed due to the fact Dubstep should be about enjoying the music and not hating on what people listen to. It's been a big effort on everyones part to create the awards and to put down someones hard work, purely because some of YOUR favourite artists aren't on the line-up and there are elements you disagree with is, we feel, a little harsh. We're all grown ups after all. - Aren't we?

If people wish to present their negative comments, then we are more than happy to listen and accept them, in some cases try to help resolve those concerns. However, we feel there are better place's than the event wall, such as here for example. :)

We're just trying to celebrate the genre and help spread the genre to new people, all we ask for is your support in doing so. Should you love the music, in the way you proclaim to, then you will see what we're trying to do and that's NOT to con people out of money or their favourite artists. If you believe otherwise then we're in no way forcing you to attend the event, nor have any part in the DMAs. - It is in fact helping the genre develop and grow. This is how life works.. Things evolve, develop and grow.

£30 for the amount of artists on the line-up, along with other surprises at the event, we feel is fair and more than reasonable. It's rare to see 6 headliners for under a tenner.. You're getting a lot for your money and we're already selling tickets which shows people agree to the price.

Have a great weekend and again, thanks for stopping by the thread. We hope you can come along and see the hard work we've put in to the awards.

The DMA Team
This all just sounds like you're spouting off so much crap to try and appease the people on this forum when really you have completely different agendas.
Let's see who 'falls' at the top of the real flyer you say you are going to put out. Because thats what headliners are, the people at the top of the flyers so obviously you are trying to appeal to the younger brostep scenesters by putting Flux & P at the top...
Just seems like you're chatting so much crap lol, what tunnidge said if you dont care about the money then lets see a share of the profits go to a charity or something. Or at least go back into the scene (Like Darkside does with Getdarker) you are proclaiming to be the figurehead awards ceremony of.

circus records camp are clearly gonna win the majority of the categories. although tbh 'best dubstep album', there haven't really been a massive amount this year, if silkie doesn't win that then the voting must be some kind of sham

Copy pasted from the AIM log from the conversation I had with this dude around the time shit all kicked off in this thread.

So proffesional, which I am but I'm also a raver which makes me cringe when I have to act professional
Oh and dude...
We've project to make a tiny profit each, there's 5 of us and the awards are costing tens of thousands of pounds. Without going in to figures, we'll each probably make about the same as one of our headliners are being paid.
:-)
Which for all the hard work... Well... I'd say that was fair!

We're sorry you feel this way, however, we understand that not everyone wants an awards show for Dubstep. - We fully respect your point of view.

I think whoever we place at the top of the flyer will cause upset with people. Sadly, we can't please everyone. If you wish to class artists as headliners over the others that are playing then this is your view and again, is certainly not ours. As we said, the list of artists had to start with one of the artists.

In relation to profits and the on going argument that we're solely doing this for the money, again, please refer to our previous statements.

Will there be nominees or could I vote for Tom down the road for the laugh? What way is the voting system going to operate?
