They said the same shit about google, myspace, and facebook. Also twitter, tumblr, etc.
Unless you're just being cheeky?

this free group video chat is pretty neat, and the layout is really nice (facebook looks really ugly when you switch back)...
it's facebook, but not made by facebook (as xkcd said)...

can't really see it taking off just because Facebook is so huge. Unless it's really good.
Remember Google Wave? That thing that changed email forever?

Email died long ago, most people use social network websites to communicate now. Also Android phones are starting to give the iPhone more than a run for it's money.

i dunno but i went to
http://plus.google.com and hit the "keep me posted" button... if you're not logged into Google it'll ask you to log in. i guess that puts you in a queue or maybe in a random drawing pool.

Google's last attempt at this failed miserably, Buzz. I had 2 invites to plus but one expired and now it's disabled I guess. People were sending out 500 invites in 20 mins, I even saw a mass inviting script someone wrote already, no surprise they locked invites down.

That was because they made the tragic error of assuming that you want to share all of your personal details with everyone in your email address book...
In my opinion, it seems that google tries to be too perfect, which may or may not work out in their favor...

Housemate sent me an invite, left it too long and now I can't use it. Lame.
Looks kinda cool... but will take a lot to break Facebook's dominance... they've got to snatch the traffic before Facebook just introduce all the popular features themselves. Google could end up throwing a lot of R&D money down the drain... or they might own all our souls within a couple of years...
I'm leaning towards the latter. Their big problem is that their dedicated platform, Andriod, is primarily being used to access Facebook!

well no, not for me, but for a whole generation of kids who will only have known life with social networking sites at the centre of it, unless their is a radical shift in social attitudes towards them they are only going to develop and encroach on our lives more and more

Needs many, many more users before I can decide what to think of this.
