DAFT PUNK

Post by Blaster » Wed Jul 06, 2011 2:37 am

I dont know why but i am completely obsessed with Daft Punk. I'm watching Interstella 5555 for the second night in a row and theres just something about there sound that is so captivating to me. Anyone else crazy for french house?

Never particularly been much of a fan.

Show me why I'm wrong.

I really dont know, its hard to describe. Its the way they take a loop only a few seconds long and then build on it until before you know it becomes an entire song plus the use vintage gear which gives there music some interesting sound characteristics. I guess its also in part because of their mysterious personalities (even though we know who they are and thomas is a very established dj.)

Just listen to Homework in its entirety.

I think I like Daft Punk's side projects more than Daft Punk themselves though.

There's something about that Daft Punk sound that no artist has ever been able to touch upon....

homework is a masterpiece. AND da funk is probably in my top 20 songs of all time. the way it's built is fantastic. that long bridge in the middle and the way the kick comes back once, and then for real a few bars later is sheer genius. i find daft punk on the whole a bit overrated for their later albums, but this one, damn.

also, since we're talking french house, this

is another mindblowing track

Their sound is more than samples man. So many samplers out there. But The fact is, nobody, not even Justice, can quite capture that essence.
Do you say zerbaman? Or do you say zebraman?

That did just kind of ruin the originality side of things for me though...

Still, veridis quo, human after all, the tron soundtrack and quite a few others are fucking brilliant.

Saw them in 07. One of the best gigs I've ever been to.

Love Homework and Alive 1997. Not hugely fond of everything post-Discovery, but after seeing recordings of the Alive 2007 tour I wish I'd have gone. They looked like the best live music experiences ever.
