THIS is the horrific picture of a Shetland pony who had its ear cut off before being repeatedly stabbed.
The pony was found by the RSPCA straying along Valley Drive, Gravesend on July 5 covered in slice wounds.
An officer for the animal welfare charity immediately called a vet to put the pony to sleep to end its suffering.
The incident has left the community shocked.
Mother-of-three, Diane Laber of Valley Drive said: “It’s disgusting.
“It’s wrong and so awful.
“Who would have done such a thing?”
Traveller Dave Lee lives in the Denton caravan park not far from Valley Drive.
The father-of-12, who has owned ponies in the past, says he is sickened by the crime.
He said: “I don’t know who it belonged to - the owners don’t live here.
“It’s a wicked, wicked thing.
“We love ponies here, this is so cruel.
“I reckon whoever did it must have been on drugs.”
RSPCA inspector, Alana Chapman is appealing to residents to help in the charity’s investigation.
She said: "We would like to know exactly what happened to this poor pony and who is responsible.
“We are sure that someone will have some information which can help us to bring a prosecution against whoever did this and so we would like to hear from anyone who can help, in strict confidence."
