This guy's tunnel vision is disconcerting.
Re: new drug called Whoonga
And if these were rich people getting high on this shit, everyone would be all too happy to call them out on it, even if they wouldn't be robbing HIV patients.
Being poor, growing up in that environment does make you more susceptible to this kinda behavior, but that doesn't justify anything. You know, for every poor person out there doing whoonga, there's probably at least one that doesn't. Furthermore, how do you know that doing drugs hasn't made them that poor in the first place? So obviously, there's more to it than just being 'poor'. Maybe, they truly are being idiots and you know, you can find idiots in every part of society.
Being poor doesn't make you exempt of criticism for making bad decisions, especially bad decisions that affect others. Starting to smoke something that they know has rat poison and HIV meds in there is a bad decision regardless of how poor and underpriviliged you are.

Butt Jolokia you live in an area of the country plagued by oxycontin addiction.... where people steal drugs from dying cancer patients to do the same exact thing as these people.
People prostitute, crush up and inject oxy that have binders that are as terrible as rat poison when injected, people rob, people kill, people feign illness, etc etc etc
Outside of some minor arrests here and there, your country not only allows RX drug abuse to go on, many of your politicians enable it because drug companies are their biggest supporters.

Come on, vulva, we all know those people in third world countries need to just pull themselves up by the bootstraps and get a fuckin' JOB, maybe start a fuckin' business, show some goddamn entrepreneurship for a change.vulvavibration wrote:dumb fuckers? fuck you man. let's see how you get on with life when you have the same circumanstances as they have. ignorant dumb fuck.
They CHOOSE the poverty and drugs.
Seriously, though, I hope butt jolokia is killed by drug addicts in a home invasion.

dont know why you brought in the class argument but realistically, claiming that wealth is inconsequential in how it affects your decision making ability is naiveGenevieve wrote:And if these were rich people getting high on this shit, everyone would be all too happy to call them out on it, even if they wouldn't be robbing HIV patients.

It's not naive, it's a cornerstone of libertarianism to think in this way. Hence why it is such a flawed philosophy.

On top of that you totally ignore the situation they live in.
These are people that have either grown up in a tin shack or not in one at all and just live on the street from the age of 3 sometimes.
They hardly make any decisions the way you or I would, they just want to be as messed up as possible.
If they are given a life and are worked with to improve their situation, do you honestly believe they would continue with this behavior?
They don`t know anything else.
It`s a symptom of a very large problem.

Yeah, well, maybe they should have gotten on their fuckin' computers and looked up the drug to see if it's bad for them, like any respectable erowid stoner. >: |
Re: new drug called Whoonga
I'm not taking sides in this shit, there are far more fucked up things going on in Africa than this, but isn't this the sort of typical overreaction that starts bullshit arguments like this in the SNH.svpreme wrote:

He said it was dumb to smoke rat poison and HIV meds. It is fucking dumb. I haven't paid the closest attention to this thread, but I doubt the OP is saying that all of Africa's problems are caused by laziness. Doing shit like smoking Whoonga isn't exactly going to better their situation, but again, I can understand where some of the less reactionary posters are coming from when they say why they might be doing it.
Fuck you all, fuck my moms and my girl, my life is played out like a jheri-curl

I disagree
If someone in a large city had facial hair like buttjolokia we'd give them shit because there's no excuse for a cultured person to have facial hair that embarassing
But given that buttjolokia is a ginger and grew up in hillbilly bumfucked USA, we can understand why his chin looks the way it does. It's not justifying his horrible facial hair choices, just not really worth giving him shit about it because we understand hillbilly inbred fashion is all he understands and in his world that is acceptable.

Furthermore, wat they didn't show u in that news clip is all of the dealers of safe drugs that are fuckin' everywhere shouting from the corners about their merchandise and being ignored by the Whoonga users.
...and I'm SURE, beyond a SHADOW OF A DOUBT, that Whoonga is more expensive than relatively safe and well-known street drugs. They fuckin' choose it, bro. They fuckin' choose it.

This is such bullshit. They just choose not to spend more money becauz they're dumb, and they only commit crimes 'cause that shit is fuckin' fun, bro.The cost of the drug is reported to be about 20 rand, or three US dollars. However, reports indicate that a whoonga addict needs several doses a day, and users are typically too poor to afford the drug out of their legal income. Addicts therefore turn to crime to raise the money for their supply.
I blame rap music.

I didn't say that. I said limiting it to wealth, or merely the conditions people grow up in is naive. People are in part the product of their environment, but no two people grow up the same way in the same environment.noam wrote:claiming that wealth is inconsequential in how it affects your decision making ability is naive

It`s a symptom of a very large problem.
People are more than the situation they live in. While it's a contributing factor, it's actually a slap in the face to people who do grow up in those conditions and don't resort to drug abuse like that. To limit people to their environment is naive most of all and THAT is the sweeping generalization. The world is not black and white. I already said that people who grow up in a certain environment are more susceptible to learn certain behavior. I'm also saying that not all people who grow up in that environment end up exhibiting that behavior, so obviously limiting it to how people grow up doesn't really work.
And it's rat poison. Regardless of whether or not you're educated or not, poison being bad for you is common knowledge. We're not talking about ecstasy or cocaine here. We're talking about poison.
There already are people who grow up in middle, even upper class conditions in the western world who show this type of behavior. And as soon as some of those people behave like this, everyone is all too happy to point out how stupid they are, but when poor people do it, god forbid you call them out on it.
