Basically, intercity / express trains are normally pretty stush and local / commuter trains are pretty shit. But almost everything in the southeast is commuter or local routes, so almost all the trains are pretty shit.

Back on topic, I commute on a bike, I wonder if I could get anything going on there...

I ride a train every morning and evening, only for 10 minutes tho. But when I've got meetings far away here in Sweden (Sweden is freakin long), I tend to make me some sounds and some sound designing. And also tons of presets :) But I never produce any full tunes, too much going on...

Just listening to Immortal Technique, JMT and Snowgoons makes you cool.
Hating Skrillex makes you awfully cool. No... one... must... make... music... the... mass... likes...

Not on a train, but I've made (or started/worked on, rather) music in restaurants in the early morning hours, midnight - 2 AM or so. Also in moving vehicles driving at night. It was an odd hobby for a friend and I for a while. At first we had a drum machine+MIDI sequencer, and later used a laptop.

I'm planning on going out alone on a boat this weekend after midnight with a laptop and some headphones. I just want to go a good distance out until I can't see evidence of humanity any more and then fire up a DAW and see what kind of music I make. It has a power source so I can plug the laptop in too. I'd like to take a couple of pieces of hardware instead, but it's too expensive to lose out there, just in case... (I've never driven/been on a boat alone)

That would be so cool, too bad my computer is an obese sonofabitch
I found a way to get piece of mind for years and left the hell alone, turn a deaf ear to the cellular phone

traveling all around europe at the moment with a euro rail pass, and whenever there is a plug-in at my seat i take the opportunity to make some tunes with my iPod Touch and BeatMaker. Wishing I had brought a laptop with Ableton...

the lack of audio programs on Android is what's keeping me from taking the plunge and getting a smartphone...someone at Google really needs to fix up that code...jerks.

Hahaha, it was fun! Honestly also pretty damn creepy, I had to keep taking my headphones off so I could hear what was going on around me. Next time I'm going to take some portable bookshelf speakers so I at least don't have to have headphones on the whole time. I really want to record some sounds out there too, there was all sorts of weird noises, distant foghorns, animals etc.

On the tube? Don't think I could pull that one of. But I have to travel from London to Leeds/Manchester every so often and those trains are kushty for producing.

I have about 8 tracks on my Korg-DS10.

Great for long journeys!
