Therein lies the issue - when you're not using DSF as the poll host, it means people could potentially just spam the URL to everyone on their Facebook chat.
Well if anyone's doing that, they're dumb, because FB is a rather public place to cheat and we will find out!

This ^^

I'm going to contact Haack and get a list of what tunes belong to what members. Anyone considered to have irregular voting patterns may be named and shamed.

Hell yeh, this sort of action is totally defeating the purpose of having a competition.
I guess it`s all the money and fame that`s up for a prize this time.

this competition has been an absolute farce. beta is my shit tune, theres no way it deserves to win, its not even half finished. its clear someone has posted a load of votes just to mess up the results, i can promise you it wasn't me. i'd like to win if there was an honest voting system in place and i'd actually made a good tune. more for the feedback really. but this is just a joke, which is why i'm not just going to sit by while you all discuss who 'cheated'.

simply checking the ip addresses with forum members vs the poll results should give an indication of who's done this. oh, and for the record, if i were to try to cheat, i'd at least be smart enough to do it from multiple computers over the course of a few days. not a ton of votes overnight.

clearly i've broken the rules by telling you which one is mine, so kick my tune off the list! :) doubt i'll even bother with this again unless its run properly. waiting a week to hear the tunes, having people vote before they'd even heard them(i reckon someone people have two accounts), having a poll where you can apparently vote many times, its all just a joke. this is supposed to be a friendly competition, but a competition nonetheless.

oh, if you could find out who cheated that'd be nice. perhaps banning them from entering future comps would be a good idea.

Apologies if my previous post came across as accusatory. It wasn't my intention 8)

TBH, I'm not entirely sure the voting site that is being used for this contest has that level of complexity. It seems to be geared more towards opinion polls than rigid competitions.

This is the 31st sample pack contest that has been run, and so far Haack has done an outstanding job in all previous contests. He has my total support in how the contests are run.

no worries. :W:

i had to say something tho, i didn't want to look like a tnuc. and its only natural for everyone to be a bit annoyed if someone has posted several votes overnight. just wish they hadn't chose my tune.

this is the first one i have entered. its been an interesting experience, as i'd never mangled samples to the extent i did on this one. however, its hard to argue that this one hasn't been run badly. i'm just going by my experience, if you say they've all been run ok in the past then i'll give the next one a go.

I think the comps have been run very well in the past.
Haack knows what he`s doing.
It`s just this one that was a bit confuzzled.

We should all have personal integrity.
I know that`s not the case though.

Agree with Mark that this competition has been shoddily run. When you put your hard work into a tune for a competition, only to see it ignored with no outside communication for a week over the deadline, then when it IS online the voting system is horribly flawed, its rather frustrating and I can understand his anger. I feel a bit the same and probably won't bother with this competition in the future. You don't get anything for winning, it's just a bit of fun that has turned into something really frustrating. I get the feeling my tune would be one of the ones pointed at for cheating (rather unjustly), so why don't you go and name and shame right now because I have voted once and only once, any other votes on my tune have not been from me. This whole cheating malarky has stripped any remaining elements of fun out of this whole contest.

I don't doubt HAACK has done a good job in the past, but there's no escaping this particular competition (my first) has been shit.

Sparxy - take it for what it is.
Don`t let it upset you brother.
If you`ve produced the track expecting something then don`t be disappointed when nothing comes of it.
That is unfortunately the nature of these sorts of contests.

It would be better if we were commenting on each other`s tracks.

I'm not really that upset. I just don't think you should be pointing fingers at people when the voting system is as flawed as it is. FYI my tune was Chatterbox and was the one that got 4/5 votes on the first day. Someone's first reaction was to say i'd cheated which is just ridiculous. I think they really need to take a step back, I can't be at fault for people voting on my tune. The competitive nature seems to get the better of people.
I don't expect anything to come of this. It is a fun, friendly contest and is really just something to get forum heads producing and talking to each other. People have spent their time adding to this contest and the community and its just become a ballache rather than fun due to a number of issues.

I don't really care if I win or not, obviously its nice but tbh all I will be doing is touching up the mixdown on it and giving it away free anyway. I've never really participated much in the community here so though this was a good opportunity but instead I was accused of cheating. My time would have been better spent doing something else in retrospect

No one accused you of cheating.
I only referred to one track that got 14 votes overnight.
Chatterbox didn`t.
Neither did Joust.
Neither did lots of tracks that got general votes.

But I do think loads of folks have voted numerous times for tracks they liked.
That makes this a farce I`m afraid.
