Listen carefully to how Skrillex makes his tunes and then do the exact opposite of that :W:

You need to start with obtaining a program! FL studios 9 might be a good one to try to learn. Cytrus is baisicly a program inside of the program FL that will let you alter your synths and oscilate the sounds, thats what will make your wobbles. There are many videos on youtube that can help you learn how to use your program, you just gotta get one to learn first.

and if you end up making mixes of other artists songs, throw these in there, and that goes for anyone making a mix!

Get yourself a DAW: FL Studio is the best for beginners, and its comprehensive throughout your learning and good for when you become pro :)
Get yourself a ballsload of sample packs: Prime Loops, Vengeance House, and Music Radar make amazing sample packs, filled with enough percussion and FX to last you a lifetime. dont use the sample packs for the prerecorded loops though, as taking sounds that are premade hinder's your learning ability. Make the basses and melodies and synths yourself :4:

Next its time to learn music making basics: 1. Structure of dubstep songs
2. Different styles of dubstep, i.e. dance/brostep, deep, dungeon, etc. assess the differences of each style, and if you know in ur mind what is your favorite and what you are set on producing, listen to as much of it as you can. Studying the pros is the best way to learn how to improve your tracks IMO.
3. Learn some info thatll help you make the sounds you use: FM synthesis, creating different presets and patches, use of LFOs, wavetable positions, modulation, and all that jazz.
4. Start laying melodies and drum tracks, making songs, learning as you go about different techniques. The best way to learn is to come onto this forum and just ask questions that havent already been answered. theres a neverending well of knowledge here that is really underestimated.

on a side note, dont think that when you start you need to buy any fancy mixers, hardware, or jazz like that. the very most you need when starting out is a small one or two octave keyboard so you can think up melodies easily without using piano roll. dont get caught up trying to get the best looking studio and whatnot. itll all be useless if you dont have the prior knowlegde and experience to use it.

hope this helped! have fun making the best genre of electronic music out there :4:

Go download demos for the following: Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Reason, Logic (If you're on a mac.)

Decide which one you like the best. Go from there ;-)

read the dubstep production bible thru

then read some more on the forum. THEN come and post abstract stuff and realize its useless to both u and us.

then make music and be frustrated. then be less frustrated

then start posting actual questions about pragmatic stuff / opinions...

sorry if i sound direct : the info ull get from this thread will be generic, inaccurate and not thorough

i have a post count of 50 - 60 on gearslutz, and ive been lurking on that forum for 5 years now... theres simply that much info on it.. i keep reading, and learn as much as if i posted.. maybe even more.

get ur read on yung pada1

Honestly, we've got an entire forum on how to make Dubstep. I'd suggest reading every topic on here before you get started. The Production Bible would be a great starting point - http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=159713
