not really a argument, as if u have really a problem with such outbound traffic, dont use unsecure p2p

Exactly, if there is one server acting as a dedicated seeder (probably the same server running the tracker), then we won't have to worry about the problem sumone alluded to earlier, where downloads are only alive for as long as someone leaves their client open. This still can produce a tremendous bandwidth strain on the host server (not as much as directly hosting the file, but still rather substantial), which is where the trackerless torrents will probably come into play. Of course in order to take advantage of the trackerless protocol everyone would need the latest clients...and it's still a little too buggy to put to practical use just yet. Additionally, the trackerless protocols for Azuerus and Bittorrent classic are still uncompatible as of right now...so the board, as a whole, will have to decide on one or the other.

My only other issue w/ Bittorrent is that it's choking mechanism (the way it decides who downloads what and at what speed) tends to favor broadband users over those on dial-up. I don't know what percentage of users that makes up on this board, but it would still suck to be left out.

I'll try playing around and testin some of this when I get home tonight. If anyone would like to help, give me a shout.

I don't see why trackerless would be necessary. If no one can provide a server to set up a bit torrent tracker, then one of the sites i mentioned above could be used.

And if there's anyone still on dial-up,

True, I don't think it'll be necessary either, I was just putting all the options out there. It'll be a while before proper trackerless takes off, anyway. I just find the concept cool

Why not use both methods?

As long as a few people can stick files d/led off of bittorrent up on yousendit or eqivalent, everyone should be able to get the sets.

I agree that yousend sucks tho - sendspace is faster and doesn't crash my downloads as much

im still on dial-up, where i live they literally only just got broadband in the area...way overdue...

As soon as i get it ill try and help put something back as listening to the sets provided has kept me abreast of what's been going on...only problem is i have no idea how to upload stuff or use bittorent...better get my dunces hat off and start learning!!!
