Steinberg without a doubt. They are a revelutionary company creating asio and the vst, and dont forget the new note expression, its insane.

Pretty subjective, but I choose Ableton because of the idea of session and arrangement view. It's so easy to create loops of your all ideas on the session view then put them together in the arrangement.

I'd go with Audacity also. Never seen a freeware company with such good support.

Ableton (hands down), Image line, Native Instruments, Propellerheads (just cuz' I'm a swede and this is what got me into it
), IK Multimedia, PSP.

NI just for Maschine. Awesome to the power of Awesome, and all that squared. Komplete is the bizomb but wouldn't put them in the number one spot. Second goes to ImageLine, and we all know why. Third to Ableton for the session view.

ImageLine for sheer ease of use, NI comes second, but they lose out for not being able to spell

Probably because they retain German spelling in a lot of products? They're a German company anyway, makes sense.ToxicBass wrote:Huh?Cheeky wrote:ImageLine for sheer ease of use, NI comes second, but they lose out for not being able to spell
Their software is amazing, but the company needs to sort out its support.
Also a +1 for mentioning Steinberg, without them a lot of this stuff wouldn't be around.
I think SPL should get mentioned as well, some top top notch software, nice to see a company that was renowned in hardware also make it big in the digital world.

Re: Which company deserves the award for best software?
Really surprised at all the votes for ImageLine. I used FL for a good while, but it seems with each release, it's just more effects, more synths, more features. Honestly, it's become a mess and they seem to show no interest in refining their product.
