Alexander Anufriev - Sincerity EP
Easing us into proceedings is "Sincerity" a nicely crafted if perhaps a little too functional progressive-tech effort with an anything but run-of-the-mill remix courtesy of Franzis-D, who follows his own "less is more" advice with a stripped-back approach which allows the warm bass pulses of the original a little more time to breathe. It's beautifully restrained, Dj Coslow allowing the lively key stabs to only make a momentary appearance before tightening the leash and submerging in the depths of a low-pass.
"Nibble" is plenty more engaging, thanks in no small part to the sweepingly epic bass note that wraps you in its loving embrace and hugs the shit out of you for the duration, an element that Alexander Anufriev significantly subdues things for his track, focussing instead on shuffling percussion, spacey tones and a whole lot of reverb for that more mellow vibe.
The remix of "Nibble" follows a similar cue, Franzis-D style heaving and weirdness included. It's hard to figure out what made this a secondary track, in fact, as the beat is bigger, the mix is more wild, the range of sounds covered is more vast—basically, it's more distinctive in every way. The EP show us as able handlers of a sound that won't be going away any time too soon.
